Katie Price has pushed back on claims her husband Lee Andrews has been ‘detained in Dubai airport’ after attempting to travel to the UK for a live TV interview.
The reality TV star, 47, appeared on Good Morning Britain with Ed Balls and Susanna Reid by herself on Tuesday morning, with the breakfast show confirming husband Lee was meant to be joining her but failed to get his flight over.
They shared a video of him at the airport in Dubai last night promising his attendance for his first live interview in the UK with his wife of five months – but he never made it over.
Ed then revealed that GMB had contacted the UK Foreign Office to query whether Lee had a travel ban, to which they responded that they had ‘supported a British man who was detained in the United Arab Emirates’.
The mum-of-five was quizzed about whether Lee had been ‘arrested’ and immediately denied that this was the case, claiming she had messaged Lee to ask whether he had been detained.
‘He’s just done a voicenote back with laughing emojis saying: “No, it’s not me” in the voicenote. And he’s just sent me pictures, he’s now at the airport and is on his way,’ she said on GMB.
When asked what happened yesterday, then, she continued: ‘He just didn’t make the flight. He’s coming over here to spend quite a few months now so he’s been sorting out my visa, my international driving license and he was flying from Muscat.’
She claimed he ‘had things to do’ and ‘missed the flight, cause obviously all his business stuff is there.’
‘He’s at the airport now,’ she reiterated.
When Ed pointed out that it looked as though Lee was at the airport in the video he sent over, the former glamour model said: ‘Yeah he was, because of his business he had some things to do last minute.’
She lamented that they had ‘done the research chat’ ready for this interview but the plans fell through, once more declaring ‘he is at the airport now and is on his way’.
When asked if Lee can be ‘unreliable’, Katie said he isn’t.
‘I can’t keep going to Dubai, so he’s now shifting over here, so he’s gonna spend a lot of time here now. I told him: “You’ve got to come to England now,”‘ she said, adding that he believes his reasons for not being able to make it over.
Ultimately, she concluded: ‘I am happy, and when Lee does make it in the country, we’ll have him on the sofa.’
A few days ago, Lee blasted a clinician in Dubai for apparently executing a ‘botched’ surgery on himself and Katie that needed correcting elsewhere, going as far as to call their practice ‘illegal’.
The pair tied the knot just days after knowing each other at the start of this year, with Lee based in Dubai throughout their marriage and Katie regularly flying out to visit him.
Lee has faced doubt over his professional and personal life for months, rolling back on claims made in his CV and having previous partners speak out about their negative experiences and label him a ‘con artist’.
His ex-fiancée, Alana Percival, has previously accused him of being a ‘conman’, ‘a narcissist’ and a ‘liar’ and claimed that he and Katie sent an ‘intimidating’ and ‘degrading ‘video to her.
Meanwhile, there is yet to be confirmation that he has a PhD from Cambridge University, despite his claims to the contrary.
