The Chicks announce 20th anniversary tour with two Dolby Theatre stops

The Chicks are heading back on the road to celebrate one of the defining albums of their career.

The Grammy-winning trio has announced the Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour, a theater run honoring the band’s 2006 album “Taking the Long Way,” which earned five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.

The tour will wrap with two Southern California dates at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Nov. 1-2.

Artist presale tickets for the anniversary tour begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at thechicks.com with tickets for the general public on sale starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4 at Livenation.com.

According to the announcement, the group will perform “Taking the Long Way” in full for the first time during the run before closing each night with songs spanning the band’s catalog.

Originally released in 2006, the album marked a major turning point for the trio — Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer — and featured songs including “Not Ready to Make Nice,” which became one of the group’s signature tracks.

The tour follows the band’s return with 2020’s “Gaslighter,” their first studio album in nearly 14 years. Produced alongside Jack Antonoff, the record was praised for pushing the group’s sound in a more modern and expansive direction.
