Hollywood legends Warren Beatty and Annette Bening have spent decades dazzling audiences onscreen, but many fans may not realize their family is packed with rising stars, too. The powerhouse couple shares four children, of whom three of those kids have also got the acting bug. From breakout film roles to heartfelt family moments, check out these five fast facts you need to know about the Beatty-Bening family.
1. Oldest Son Came Out as Trans
On January 8, 1992, Annette and Warren welcomed their first child, Stephen Beatty. The birth came just one month after âBugsy,â where Annette and Warren met, was released.
The crazy thing: Warren confirmed the pregnancy news in a fax to PEOPLE back in 1991. At the time, Warren said, “As you might have guessed, I’m still avoiding talking to the press about personal things, but I can tell you I couldn’t be happier about having a baby with Annette.”
In 2012, Stephen opened up about his identity in a video for We Happy Trans. In the video, Stephen explains he started his transition journey in his early teens. Stephen said, “My name is Stephen. I identify as a trans man.” Both Warren and Annette have been vocal supporters of their son.
2. Second Son Pursued Acting Career
Benjamin Beatty was born on August 23, 1994. The younger son of Warren and Annette has gone on to pursue a career in front of the camera, like his mom and dad.
Benjamin did pursue an acting career, but he hasnât done any work in it since 2018. To his credit, Benjamin has starred in âHail, Caesar!â and âUFO.â
Both of his famous parents clearly support all of their children. In 2016, Warren talked with AARP, stating he was feeling âgiddyâ to be sharing dinner with his son after finishing up the interview.
3. Acting Bug Bit Oldest Daughter
Like her older brother and younger sister, the acting bug also bit Isabel Beatty, 29. She was born on January 11, 1997, and is the oldest daughter of Warren and Annette.
Isabel has pursued a career in acting. She has several credits to her name. Isabel first appeared onscreen in a 2017 episode of âQuality Sketch.â She also starred in the 2018 short âMurder Tag.â Her most recent acting spot was in a 2022 short called âGet Loved.â
4. Youngest, But Most Impressive Credits
Ella was born on April 8, 2000. While she is the youngest of the Beatty children, she may have some of the most impressive credits to her name already.
To her credit, Ella has appeared in the Netflix true crime hit âMonster: The Lizzie Borden Story.â She also starred in the 2025 thriller âIf I Had Legs Iâd Kick Youâ and the 2026 feature film, âAct One.â
5. Family Changed Warrenâs Entire Life
Before he met Annette, Warren was famously one of Hollywoodâs most eligible bachelors. He then fell in love with his âBugsyâ co-star, and everything changed.
The Oscar winner has repeatedly credited his marriage and fatherhood with giving his life new meaning. He once called his children âthe greatest thing that ever happenedâ to him.
