Taylor Swift’s friends call her and Travis Kelce’s wedding rumour a ‘decoy’

After Dua Lipa and Callum Turner shut down Palermo in their controversial £1.5 million Sicilian wedding, the next celebrity marriage is almost upon us.

Yep, we’re talking about the impending nuptials between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Or, more affectionately known as your ‘English teacher and gym teacher,’ thanks to Taylor’s internet-breaking engagement announcement last August.

As with any celebrity wedding, there have been plenty of rumours swirling around online, from Tay allegedly paying a bride to change her date (update: this was revealed to be untrue), to the pair getting hitched on June 13 (Swifties will know this is her lucky number).

However, the latest rumour doing the rounds — that the couple plan to marry at Madison Square Garden — has been quickly shut down by Taylor’s friends, according to gossip columnist Rob Shuter in an exclusive Substack post.

Previously, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Taylor and Travis are getting married on July 3 at an undisclosed location in New York City — a perfect date for the Cruel Summer singer, who famously loves the 4th of July, having hosted many star-studded parties to celebrate the holiday over the years.

The ET insider claimed that guests have been told to block off the entire weekend and that the couple is taking extra precautions to ensure their wedding details stay under wraps, including watermarking the invites.

‘Each save-the-date has the guests’ names written in the background, so if any photos were to leak, they would know who it’s coming from,’ the source shared.

In terms of the MSG gossip, Shuter said that Taylor’s friends suspect these reports are a decoy. Plus, they claimed that hosting a wedding at such a famous venue feels out of character for Taylor.

‘This doesn’t sound like Taylor. It sounds like something the Kardashians would do,’ a source told Shuter.

However, because Taylor has built her brand on sharing so much of her personal life, it’s likely why people have been believing the rumours.

She did recently release a BTS Eras Tour docuseries, after all, which featured never-before-seen archival footage and intimate discussions with Taylor, her family, and crew. Not to mention cameos from Travis.

Still, insiders reportedly told Shuter that, while ‘Taylor has always used her personal life in her work,’ the songs, the Easter eggs, and the social media are ‘part of her brand.’

And, that it’s ‘very different from getting married at one of the most famous venues in the world.’

Someone else claimed that ‘a wedding at Madison Square Garden feels like a production, not a wedding.’

Another friend reportedly joked that, if the rumours were true, wouldn’t there be tickets, a ‘Ticketmaster partnership,’ or ‘a livestream?’

‘That’s why people aren’t buying it,’ they said bluntly.

Other insiders did state that there may be some relevance to Madison Square Garden, though.

Hinting at the decoy suggestion again, Shuter claimed an insider told him that the ‘theory is guests will be told to meet at MSG, then [they’ll be] put on buses and taken somewhere else.’

The source concluded: ‘Something is definitely being hidden.’
