Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Nithya Raman maintained their leads in Tuesday’s latest vote count update, one day after the Associated Press projected the two Democrats would advance to a November runoff in the Los Angeles mayoral race.
As of 4:31 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Bass remained in first place with approximately 34.32% of the vote, followed by Raman with 28.98%. Former reality television star Spencer Pratt remained in third place with 25.51%, according to the latest returns from the Los Angeles County registrar’s office.
The latest results did little to alter the overall trajectory of the race. Raman steadily chipped away at Pratt’s roughly 40,000-vote election night lead before overtaking him over the weekend. On Monday afternoon, the AP projected that Raman would advance to the November general election, setting up a contest between two Democrats with sharply different visions for the city.
The runoff will pit Bass, who is seeking a second term and has highlighted declines in homelessness and crime during her administration, against Raman, a progressive councilmember who has argued City Hall has not acted with enough urgency on issues such as housing affordability, homelessness, city finances and basic services.
Additional ballots remain to be counted. The Los Angeles County registrar’s office is expected to continue releasing updated vote totals in the coming days as election officials process outstanding ballots. Election results are scheduled to be certified June 26.
