A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a knife-wielding man at a Metrolink station in Lancaster on Saturday, June 20, according to the sheriff’s department.

Deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon about 2:05 p.m. Saturday at the train station at Sierra Highway and Lancaster Boulevard, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to City News Service. The suspect was armed with a knife.

The suspect stabbed the deputy, who shot him in response. Both were taken by ambulance to hospitals, where the suspect was pronounced dead and the deputy was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, sheriff’s officials said. The suspect and the deputy have not been identified.

“We are grateful that our deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and will be returning home to their loved ones,” Sheriff Robert G.
