Gabriel Jesus has talked up his love of Italian football as his future at Arsenal beyond this summer remains uncertain.

The 29-year-old has been hampered by injuries during his four seasons with the Gunners and has fallen down the pecking order as a result.

Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz were largely sharing the centre-forward duties last season, which limited Jesus’ minutes on the pitch.

The Brazil international turned out 14 times in the Premier League and made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.

The former Manchester City striker is going into the final year of his contract at the Emirates and seems unlikely to still be in north London beyond the summer of 2027.

The Athletic reported last week that Arsenal are open to letting the forward leave, but want up to £20 million for him in this transfer window.

Given he has 64 Brazil caps to his name and only turned 29 in April, there may be a suitor for him at that price and The Athletic confirmed that ‘multiple clubs have enquired’ about him, although his injury record will be putting off some.

Jesus has dropped something of a hint over where he might like to play next season, talking up his love of Italian football, while referencing his two goals in a 3-1 win at Inter Milan in January.

Speaking to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: ‘I grew up watching Serie A and dreamed of playing in Italy.

‘Scoring two goals at San Siro against Inter was like making that dream come true. I don’t know my future, I’m working now and we’ll see what happens with Arsenal.’

Jesus has made it clear he wants to play more regularly, saying he is very happy in his life, but wants more time on the field.

‘The best moment,’ he said of his life. ‘I have a beautiful family and I’m grateful for that. Everyone says I get hurt a lot, but now I’m doing great. I want to play. I know that if I had more minutes, I could do better.’

In December Jesus more than hinted that he would like to return to Brazil at some stage of his career and play for Palmeiras again.

However, he was also talking up his desire to stay at Arsenal at that stage.

‘One day, I would love for everything to come full circle with Palmeiras, but not today,’ he said. ‘I feel that I have unfinished business at Arsenal. I don’t want to leave.’
