At least four people have been injured after a shooting near crowds who had gathered to watch the World Cup.
World Cup celebrations during the Mexico v England match took a dark turn in East Los Angeles on Sunday night after a gunman opened fire.
Footage shows a significant police and ambulance presence at the junction of Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue, where the streets were cordoned off after reports of gunshots at about 10pm.
Prior to the shooting, huge crowds were lining the streets, with cars hooting their horns and many people flying the Mexican flag.
Live video captured the moment a car was doing a doughnut around the junction when around three shots suddenly rang out, with crowds running for cover in the chaos.
At least one person appeared to have crouched down on the side of the road, with people running to their rescue to give first aid before the emergency services arrived.
Victims were discovered in several spots along or near Whittier Boulevard, but the incident is being treated as one shooting incident, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
It is not known yet what led to the incident.
Four victims were taken to the hospital, but their exact condition has not been publicly revealed.
