We visited the pub urinal at the centre of Count Binface’s bizarre manifesto

One of Count Binface’s first political promises is still causing issues to the people of west London – the hand dryer in the men’s toilets of the Crown and Treaty pub.

The sentient wheelie bin has become Nigel Farage’s biggest threat as his only opponent in the Clacton by-election.

Count Binface has pledged to fix a number of gripes which range from abolishing VAR, nationalising Adele and capping the prince of a 99 flake to 99p.

He had only laid out a handful of pledges since he announced he was running. This includes the promise to build ‘at least one affordable house’.

But one policy he laid out in his first ever election against Boris Johnson in 2019 for the Uxbridge constituency remains bothersome to the people of west London to this day.

The hand dryer in the men’s toilet at the Crown and Treaty pub which Count Binface pledged to move to a ‘more convenient place’ is still there. And Metro went to check out just how much emotional damage it caused.

The historical building, which was where King Charles I held his unsuccessful treaty before he was beheaded, sits alongside a busy road.

A few guests milled about buying drinks to cool down in the heat, and I headed for the men’s loo.

Not being a man myself, I kindly asked a male punter to let me know his experiences. After waiting just a few minutes, he emerged with a shy expression and admitted it was ‘in an awkward place’, as using the urinal on the far right side turns on the hand dryer.

And if you need to use the hand dryer, which is just a few centimetres from one of the sinks, while someone is using the urinal.

The owners Guna and Anu Sachdeva, took over the pub in October. For a while, they have had prank calls and comments online about the hand dryer, but they have never understood why.

Guna said they are considering moving it after a number of Google reviews have come in (Picture: Nick Edwards for Metro)

It was only two days ago did they realise what it was all about, after two men cycled all the way from Ealing to see it.

Guna told Metro: ‘We have had the occasional social media comment and prank call about it, but we were never quite sure what it was about.

‘These men came and told us about it, and then asked to put our ice bucket on their head so they can take a picture with it.’

The pub has also received a number of Google reviews in the last two days. So much so, one of the AI ‘tags’ which is usually reserved for ‘family-friendly’ or ‘walk-ins only’ is simply ‘hand dryer’.

One of the reviews simply reads: ‘Hey guys I’ve never been to the England let alone your pub. But, as responsible human being, I request you to relocate the Men’s toilet hand dryer to a more sensible position.’

Looking around, it is not immediately clear where the hand dryer should go. One wall is doors to the cubicles, while the urinals and sinks take up two.

The third wall is small and sits right behind the entrance door, leaving your face vulnerable to be whacked when anyone walks in.

Guna said: ‘We are open to moving it if Count Binface wants to come chat with us, we could have a really nice meal here.

‘If England bring it home as well, we might give back and be willing to find a new place for it.’

Metro has contacted Count Binface for comment.
