WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is back.

Just two weeks before the two-night SummerSlam extravaganza, the wrestling giant takes over Madison Square Garden with an interesting card.

In a similar move to May’s edition of the special event, this weekend’s SNME is a chance for WWE superstars who don’t usually get PLE spotlights to shine on a big day.

Yes, the main event features the likes of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER and Sami Zayn, but the rest of the card is littered with people deserving of the ring time.

From Danhausen and Lyra Valkyria to Fatal Influence’s Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley, there are some people with a real point to prove at the World’s Most Famous Arena.

Why isn’t Saturday Night’s Main Event on Netflix?

As WWE fans know, for the last year and a half, Netflix has been billed as the official home for the company, with Raw, SmackDown and NXT streaming live every single week as part of your regular subscription.

Fans also have access to regular monthly premium live events like SummerSlam, WrestleMania and more, plus classic PLEs and documentaries, like WWE Unreal, which is returning next week with a third season.

However, in the US, Saturday Night’s Main Event is still a special on Peacock, and the rights situation means they air internationally on YouTube, in a similar move to AAA’s events.

Could Mike Santana make his WWE debut? (Picture: TNA Wrestling)

Will Mike Santana debut at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event?

Metro’s WWE expert Alistair McGeorge breaks down fan speculation.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way, which is that there is no confirmation Mike Santana will debut for WWE this weekend.

However, there could be more to the online rumours about the former TNA Wrestling champion’s future than just wild speculation.

Santana is no longer listed on the TNA roster, and he’s a free agent after the end of his contract.

Reports suggest he’s on his way to WWE, as WrestleVotes on Fightful Select has claimed he is expected to arrive before the end of the summer.

Saturday evening is certainly before the end of the summer, and it would be a perfect storm.

Santana has wrestled for WWE before with six NXT matches under his belt, so there is some familiarity there – but that’s not all.

SNME is at Madison Square Garden this weekend, and New Yorker Santana has built up a reputation as something of a hometown hero in the wrestling world.

What better way to introduce him than as backup for Danhausen, who has hinted to Matt Cardona that he has someone real and from New York to tackle the Judgment Day?

He’d instantly be aligned with one of WWE’s most popular stars, taking on a group which has been all over Raw and SmackDown for years, in front of a packed NY crowd.

Nothing is guaranteed, but I’m cautiously optimistic about this one.
