Yung Filly, a British rapper and social media personality, has begun his trial in Australia after being accused of sexually assaulting a fan.

He was arrested last year after being accused of raping a then-20-year-old woman on tour, who had gone to see his performance in Perth, Australia.

He has been charged with six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of impeding someone’s normal breathing.

Defence lawyer David Edwardson did not give an opening statement but Barrientos has pleaded not guilty to all six counts.

The court heard how the rapper, 30, had consensual sex with the woman in September 2024, but the encounter became ‘non-consensual’.

She claims Filly, real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, got more aggressive, slapping her and biting her, leaving her in tears.

The woman claims he then anally raped her and told his bodyguard she was ‘no good in bed’.

The prosecution explained that she had gone to Barrientos’ performance as a big fan, calling him her ‘celebrity crush’.

Prosecutor Danielle Clarke said the woman had recorded a video saying she ‘loved Yung Filly and wanted him to be her future husband.’

On the night, it’s claimed that she was invited into the VIP lounge and approached by Barrientos.

She told the court she had ‘four or six shots’ as the bar had been handing out free tequila, but ‘knew what I was doing’.

At one point while still at the venue, Barrientos reportedly put his hand down her underwear, to which she stated: ‘I’m not like that’.

He allegedly replied: ‘It really shows your age’, as well as telling her, ‘you’re coming home with me tonight’.

What to do if you’ve been raped

If you have been the victim of rape, either recently or historically, and are looking for help, support is out there.

  • If you have recently been raped and you are still at risk, ring 999 and ask for the police. Otherwise, the first step is to go somewhere you are safe.
  • If you want to report your rape to the police, ring 999 or the police non-emergency line on 101. An Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) will often be on hand to help you through reporting and even after you have made a statement, you can still decide to withdraw from the criminal justice process at any time.
  • If you plan on going to the police, if possible, do not wash your clothes or shower, bathe or brush your teeth. If you do get changed, keep the clothes you were wearing in a plastic bag. These steps will help to preserve any DNA evidence your attacker may have left on your body or clothes.
  • If you don’t want to contact the police, Rape Crisis suggest talking to someone you trust about what has happened; or you can ring one of the UK’s many rape and sexual assault helplines.
  • Anyone aged 16+ can contact Rape Crisis’s 24/7 Support Line by calling 0808 500 2222 or starting an online chat.
  • If you have been injured, you’re best advised to go to your nearest A&E to seek medical treatment. If you are uninjured, you can go to your nearest Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). The NHS has information on where to find your nearest centre here.
  • If your rape is historic, you can still access support, including from the police – there is no time limit on reporting and your account can still be used as evidence.

The woman left the party with his all-male entourage around 3am, believing they were heading to an after-party but arriving instead at the Intercontinental Hotel on Hay Street.

Here, his bodyguard allegedly took her phone before they headed to the hotel room.

Prosecutor Clarke told the court that while the initial encounter was consensual, she had asked Barrientos to stop biting her but he continued.

The prosecutor alleged he had told her to stop talking, slapped her, and bit her even harder after her request to stop.

One bite broke the skin on her breast, and she later had a tetanus shot at the hospital.

The jury heard how he held his hands around her neck, ‘tightly’, for several seconds, telling her to say ‘derogatory things’.

The woman is said to have refused and begun to cry, with Clarke stating: ‘She didn’t know how to get herself out of the situation and decided to do what the accused wanted.’

Barrientos then allegedly raped her multiple times, including anally, before ordering a burger through room service.

As she was leaving, he reportedly told his minder that she was ‘not good in bed’ before grabbing her breast and saying, ‘How good are her boobs?’

She reported the incident to the police the following day, and claims to have taken photos of her injuries that morning.

The trial is set to run over the next two weeks.
