Leopard wrestles shop worker inside liquor store

Two men have escaped a rogue leopard attack after the animal burst into a tiny liquor store on Sunday morning.

The big cat wandered into Todaraisingh town in Rajasthan, India, on July 19, and began attacking locals.

One, a local forest ranger volunteer, was investigating reports the leopard had been spotted in bushes at 8:45am when the animal attacked him.

The leopard then travelled into the town before making its way inside a liquor store and lunging at the two men inside.

Terrifying footage captured the attack, in which 25-year-old salesman Sanjay Gurjar manages to escape the big cat’s claws.

He can be seen wrestling away from the leopard, before making a dive over a table the second he is released from its clutches.

The leopard continued to wander around the store before taking refuge under a table, almost knocking over a towering shelf of bottles as it did so.

Gurjar was reportedly able to lock the lost cat inside the shop, preventing it from hurting anyone else.

A rescue team reached Todaraisingh at around 2pm and launched an operation to safely capture the leopard.

All three attack victims were taken to hospital, with the ranger volunteer treated and discharged while the two shop workers were transferred to another facility for further treatment.

The attack comes days after an elderly man was killed in his sleep by a leopard, 400 miles away in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Ram Yadav, 88, had been asleep on his veranda when the wild cat launched at him before dragging him towards the woods.

The man’s family rushed out armed with weapons, scaring off the leopard and calling emergency services for Yadav.

He had suffered severe injuries, including to his neck, and was pronounced dead on his arrival in hospital.
