Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro among huge stars to ‘have private details leaked online’

Robert De Niro and Angelina Jolie are among stars to have their data leaked online, it has been claimed.

Information including phone numbers and private email addresses were reportedly made publicly accessible online for a number of high-profile celebrities.

A cyber security expert has now branded the leak the ‘biggest he’s ever seen’.

Jeremiah Fowler said the leak stemmed from New York’s annual Tribeca Film Festival, which was founded by De Niro.

The leak is reportedly down to human error from three exposed databases relating to the festival.

It reportedly included information such as phone numbers and private email addresses which were made available online.

He told The Sun: ‘There were many, many household names in the records who could have been targeted with ­malware. There were names, phone numbers and email addresses.’

Other names who reportedly had information leaked include Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, Neil Patrick Harris, Rami Malek, Sharon Stone, Michael Douglas and British filmmaker Danny Boyle.

Mr Fowler told the publication: ‘It’s really unique because these ­individuals are so guarded and they protect their personal privacy, their contacts, their phone numbers.’

The security expert contacted the festival not long after discovering the breach and the database was removed from public access.

He later received an email from a legal executive who said they were ‘actively investigating this issue.’

‘They responded pretty quickly, so it was obvious they knew what it was and that it shouldn’t have been there,’ he said.

A source said told The Sun that the ‘vast majority’ of contact details were for managers and agents rather than celebrities themselves.
