The visit marked the children’s first official visit to Scotland and was an opportunity for the family to spend time together before George, 13, starts his first term at the prestigious Eton College in September.
Once the game ended, crowds cheered as the family exited the stadium and met Mark Swan and Reuben Ward – a para powerlifting gold medallist and gymnast respectively – on the arena’s concourse.

Gold-winning Scottish athlete Ward told PA: ‘Coming into the Games, I was just hoping for the best and hopefully I could get some medals.
‘Being in a position where I’m being chosen to meet the Prince of Wales, it’s just a strange but incredible experience.’

The family of five then went to watch cycling at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow’s East End, and even met the venue’s namesake.
Other members of the Royal Family who have attended the Commonwealth Games this year included King Charles and Queen Camilla and the Duke of Edinburgh, vice patron of Commonwealth Sport.
William and Kate are also set to meet with athletes competing at the games who have been helped by the charity SportsAid, of which Kate has been a patron since 2013.
They will also rub shoulders with the athletes of tomorrow taking part in the Team England Futures project.
