CCTV captured the moment a motorcyclist smashed into the side of a bus on a busy road in Colombia.

The crash on Calle Septima in Valle del Cauca, Colombia, happened after the motorcyclist crossed a junction at high speed before hitting the bus.

The biker was thrown into the bus – and escaped with his life, but only because the door was open.

He lay on the floor of the bus for several seconds, apparently dazed, before getting up and getting off the bus.

The footage showed he had lost his shoes in the collision, while the motorcycle was left on the road some distance away.

One of the bus doors had been left open, which allowed him to pass into the interior rather than hitting the metal bodywork.

What could have put the passengers at risk instead turned out to be the thing that prevented a far heavier impact.

No serious injuries have been reported, but the motorcyclist was taken to a medical centre for X-rays.

Authorities are examining the circumstances of the collision to establish exactly how it happened.

In July, a motorcyclist in Essex had a near-miss after a truck driver came at them head-on while on the wrong side of the road.

Traffic had come to a standstill near Lakeside, towards the Dartford Crossing on July 16, with drivers waiting for several hours.

The road in the opposite direction was empty, leaving the motorcyclist shocked when they were forced to emergency stop to avoid a lorry going the wrong way.

‘As an experienced rider, I always expect the unexpected, and I expected cars doing U-turns. But this wasn’t something I expected,’ they said.

‘It wasn’t a pleasant moment; I locked the rear wheel. It was an emergency stop for me. I was pinned against the curb; I left a black mark from my tyre all the way down the road from braking.’

The motorcyclist, known as @motocasperuk on TikTok, continued: ‘If worst came to the worst, I would’ve had to pull the throttle and go into the fields.

‘It wasn’t an “Oh my God, I’m going to die” moment, so much as a “What are you doing?” moment.’

They shared the footage on social media, racking up thousands of views as the lorry and a Subaru appear on the empty road, which was said to be a 50mph zone.
