No one was hurt but several people were displaced after an extra-alarm blaze tore through a West Town apartment building early Wednesday.
Fire officials responded to the fire around 2:40 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Grand Avenue, and it elevated to a two-alarm fire roughly 20 minutes later, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The fire was extinguished just after 4:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported, but the Red Cross was called to assist with displacements. Fire officials said they did not know know the number of residents affected.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
