Kasabian frontman of four years Serge Pizzorno has spoken about why the band has no plans to revisit the past following the axing of their former frontman four years ago.

Kasabian is marking the 20th anniversary of the self-titled debut album, featuring songs such as Club Foot and Reason is Treason.

Despite the album’s success, the new frontman has revealed that they are looking forward rather than backwards and want to ‘move on’.

Serge told The Sun: ‘The best way to celebrate 20 years is with new music.

‘We’re in our third decade and we have something new to say. We don’t need to look back at memories of writing ‘LSF’.

‘We can talk about this new album and how we have explored new music. It’s amazing that

‘We’ve got this legacy, but songwriting is what I love.

‘It’s been nice for us all to move on. We’d never go back – I know too much.’

Serge has been the band’s frontman since 2020 when he took over from Tom Meighan.

Originally Serge was the guitarist and second vocalist for the band, but took over as the lead after Meighan pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend and former fiancée Vikki Ager.

His bandmates had slammed his behaviour as ‘totally unacceptable’, and he was permanently dismissed from the band.

Meighan has since claimed that Kasabian plotted to boot him from the band ‘years before’ he left, but the band have never commented on these allegations.

In the interview with The Sun, the new frontman referenced the group’s 2022 album The Alchemist’s Euphoria, and why it was difficult after ‘everything they’d been through’.

‘Alchemist was a hard record to make.

‘It was hard for so many reasons, but not many bands this century have had six number ones so it was a nice thing to happen with Alchemist after everything we’d been through,’ he revealed.

‘We went in at Number One and just carried on.

‘Of course, it was also a test, yeah. It was a tightrope and that was the fear that this could go horribly wrong.’
