Well, this is certainly going to be an interesting film. Hollywood has just confirmed that hip-hop icon 50 Cent will officially be stepping into the ring.
Curtis â50 Centâ Jackson is trading bars for boxing gloves, literally. The rapper, actor, producer, and all-around entertainment powerhouse has joined the upcoming “Street Fighter” film adaptation as none other than Balrog. Jackson will play the muscle-bound boxer turned brutal bodyguard of the villainous M. Bison.
What’s better than that? Well, heâs not coming alone. This fight card reads more like a pop culture dream lineup than a standard casting list. Jason Momoa will bring chaotic energy as Blanka; heartthrob Noah Centineo is set to play Ken; country singer Orville Peck will appear as Vega; and WWE superstar Roman Reigns steps into the fiery role of Akuma. Yes, THAT Roman Reigns.
It doesn’t end there, though. Rounding out the fighters are “Warrior” star Andrew Koji as franchise icon Ryu and rising talent Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Talk about a wild but entertaining cast. We canât wait to see how this turns out.
50 Cent Goes Full Balrog Mode for ‘Street Fighter’
Jacksonâs casting as Balrog is as inspired as it is mildly intimidating. The character, first introduced in “Street Fighter II,” is a menacing former heavyweight boxer who now serves as muscle for the evil Shadaloo organization. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson is already deep into training and is reportedly performing his own stunts.
“No days off. Letâs work. All roads lead to Shreveport. Boom,” 50 wrote on Instagram, referencing the upcoming production. The post quickly caught fire, with fans flooding the comments in support.
One follower summed it up, saying, “Iâve bought my ticket already.” Another added, “Letâs go 50! Keep diversifying your acting portfolio.”
For fans of Jacksonâs recent screen work, this role makes sense. The Grammy-winning artist has transformed himself into a major Hollywood force with hit shows like “Power,” “Black Mafia Family,” and “For Life” through his “G-Unit Film & Television” banner. He has also earned acting credits in “Expendables 4” and the upcoming horror film “SkillHouse.”
In 2024, Jackson also launched “50 Cent Action,” a Lionsgate FAST channel that quickly became the No. 1 action channel on both Roku and LG platforms.
The Film: A Chaotic, Star-Packed Throwdown
“Street Fighter,” based on the iconic franchise that debuted in 1987, has seen numerous versions over the years. We have everything from the beloved “Street Fighter II” arcade hit in 1991 to the award-winning “Street Fighter 6,” released in 2023.
This latest adaptation promises a bold new spin. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is expected to blend heavy action with off-the-wall humor and stylish visuals. Plot details and the release date are still being kept under wraps, but sources say this version will lean fully into each characterâs over-the-top energy and signature moves.
Itâs safe to say this isnât your old-school “Street Fighter.” With 50 Cent throwing punches as Balrog, Momoa going green as Blanka, and Centineo charming his way through spinning kicks, this movie looks ready to deliver a cinematic KO.
