A new year is upon us – and it’s set to be an exciting one for Netflix. While the past few months might have seen such huge new shows such as Squid Game and Stranger Things come to an end, there’s still plenty to look forward to in terms of returning favourites this year (hello Bridgerton) and new offerings. And 2026 is already getting off to a cracking start with the latest crop of new shows on the streaming platform. Whether it’s a tense thriller, reality TV from the continent or just a spot of stand-up comedy you’re after, Netflix has you covered as the last sparkles of Christmas fade and the return to real life sets in… (Picture: ERIN SIMKIN/NETFLIX)

First up, here’s a treat for fans of this former NBC show that was cancelled after just two seasons. Both seasons of Found, which came to a premature end in May 2025, have been picked up by Netflix, raising hopes that a third series could happen at some point (although as it stands there are no plans). Still, at least we have these to enjoy for now. Found centres on Gabi Moseley (Shanola Hampton), a crisis manager who works with a team trying to track down missing people forgotten – or overlooked – by the media. Except she’s got an ulterior motive for doing so.

Just when you thought everyone had run out of Stephen King stories to adapt, here comes another one, creeping on to Netflix from Amazon Prime Video just in time for the new year. Based on the super-author’s 2011 novel, the eight-episode saga sees James Franco as James Epping, a recently divorced English teacher who has the chance to travel back to 1960 in a bid to prevent John F Kennedy’s assassination. Except he becomes a bit too enamoured with his new past life and identity – potentially threatening his entire mission.

Stand-up comedy specials on Netflix are always a big deal and the latest one comes courtesy of Marcello Hernandez, who since 2022 has been making a name for himself as a member of the Saturday Night Live cast. The show sees the comic delving into his Latino roots, with routines about everything from unhinged family dance-offs to the life lessons he has learned from his mum. (Picture: Netflix/Samuel Rivas)

His & Hers

One of this month’s biggest new series, this one is based on the 2020 novel by best-selling British author Alice Feeney. His & Hers-Netflix style updates the setting from the UK to Georgia, as a journalist (Tessa Thompson) investigates a murder in her small home town of Dahlonega, clashing with a detective as she does – the only issue being that her main rival is also her ex-husband (Jon Bernthal). With the story being told from the different viewpoints of both lead characters, this is one in which everyone’s a suspect, and nothing is what it seems.
