Beloved “Family Affair” star Kathy Garver received her first Grammy nomination at age 80.

Perhaps best known for her role as big sister Cissy in the CBS comedy “Family Affair,” Garver was nominated in the Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording category for her work narrating “Elvis, Rocky and Me: The Carol Connors Story”. The book is a memoir of songwriter Carol Connors, written by Connors and Steve Bergsman.

“It’s wonderful that it is up for a Grammy because in this audiobook are two of Carol’s songs that have never been released,” Garver told KGET after learning of her nomination. “It took about two and a half weeks of different times of going about three hours each of those visits and there were probably about five visits to do that.”

In addition to “Family Affair,” Garver is known for her role in Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments.”

Garver later made a name for herself outside of acting through voice work, including projects such as “The New Yogi Bear Show,” “Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends,” “Tom & Jerry Kids Show” and “Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos.” She also voiced video games such as “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.”

“I will never forget this. And it was Century City, and it was for tuna fish. So, he says, ‘OK, now here’s the script, and what we want you to say.’ I like tuna fish, and I say, ‘OK, I can do that,’” she recalled to KGET of her first voice acting gig. “The technique is the same thing. You start with reading the script.”

Kathy Garver Reflects on 2025

Garver took to social media shortly after Grammy nominations were announced to reflect on her “incredible start to 2026!”

“From the Palm Springs International Film Festival to my Grammy nomination, from celebrating 60 years of #FamilyAffair to launching my new book ‘Romancing with the Stars’—this year is already filled with so much gratitude and excitement,” she shared via Facebook on Sunday, January 11. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career. Your love and encouragement mean everything to me, and I’m so grateful to share these milestones with you.
Here’s to a year filled with love, laughter, and new adventures!”

The 68th annual Grammy Awards—which air on February 1—will see Garver up against Trevor Noah for “Into The Uncut Grass,” Ketanji Brown Jackson for “Lovely One: A Memoir,” Dalai Lama for
“Meditations: The Reflections Of His Holiness The Dalai Lama,” and Fab Morvan for “You Know It’s True: The Real Story Of Milli Vanilli.”
