After a nearly 25-year hiatus, Pulp have dropped a new single and announced a new album.
The English rock band were formed in Sheffield in 1978, with the band members at the height of their popularity being Jarvis Cocker, Russell Senior, Candida Doyle, Nick Banks, Steve Mackey and Mark Webber.
After struggling to find success in the 1980s, they then grew in popularity in the mid-1990s, firstly with their1994 album His ‘n’ Hers, which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
Its follow-up, 1995’s Different Class, not only won the prestigious award but also reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and spawned four top ten singles
At the band’s peak, they headlined the Pyramid Stage of Glastonbury twice and were also considered to be part of Britpop’s ‘big four’ alongside Oasis, Blur and Suede.
They sold over 10 million records, with some of their best-known songs being Common People, Do You Remember The First Time? and Disco 2000.

Their last album, We Love Life, was released in 2001 and they took a decade-long break.
Although they reunited in 2011 and released the song After You in 2013, there’s been no new albums since.
That was until today, when the band announced their 8th studio album, titled More, was on its way.
Revealing the news on Lauren Laverne’s show on BBC Radio 6 Music, they also treated fans to a first listen of the new single and explained the album, which will be released on June 6, was dedicated to late bandmate Mackey, who died aged 56 in 2023.

Fans were ecstatic over the update, sharing their excitement on social media.
‘This means the world to me, June 6 cannot come soon enough,’ Sabrina commented on Instagram.
‘WELCOME BACK 90S BRITPOP,’ Marina declared.
‘I’m crying! 😭 Tears of pure joy!’ Lin added.
Speaking about the new track, Cocker said it had been inspired by an infamous Stone Roses concert at Spike Island, Widnes, in 1990, which has been described as a milestone for British indie music.

Joking that ‘no AI’ was used in the making of the album, Cocker said reuniting in 2023 saw them practice a new son Hymn of the North during soundchecks.
We did play one new song towards the end of the tour, and nobody threw things at us, or left to go to the bar. So, we just thought we’d carry on and see what we could conjure up,’ he joked.
He went on to say that new track ‘seemed to open the floodgates’ and they came up with the rest of the songs on the album the following year.
‘The album was recorded over three weeks by James Ford in Walthamstow, London, starting on November 18, 2024. This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record in the modern era. It was obviously ready to happen. These are the facts,’ he said.

However, after being asked by Laverne about a potential reappearance at Glastonbury, he said the following: ‘Glastonbury has a very important place in our hearts, but there’s no plans to play there.’
More will feature 11 tracks – Spike Island, Tina, Grown Ups, Slow Jam, Farmers Market, My Sex, Got To Have Love, Background Noise, Partial Eclipse, Hymn Of The North, and A Sunset.
Pulp is currently made up of singer Cocker, keyboard player Doyle, drummer Banks and guitarist Webber.
They will play six arena shows in June, starting in Glasgow and visiting Dublin, London, and Birmingham before closing in Manchester.
