A 90s movie legend has confirmed his role in the upcoming second season of the Fallout TV series – with fans celebrating ‘the return of the king’.
Macaulay Culkin, 44, who was the lead star of the Home Alone film series in the early 1990s, announced his involvement on Instagram to his 1.9 million followers.
Adapted from the video game series of the same name, Fallout is set in the early 23rd century and depicts the aftermath of a nuclear war between China and the United States.
With humanity forced to live underground in Vaults, Ella Purnell’s Lucy MacLean decides to leave her home to venture out into dangerous post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.
It’s not clear yet what role Macaulay will be taking on, but his character is described as being a ‘crazy genius type’ according to reports in America.
Deadline has said that while ‘no one is commenting’, sources have indicated that Macaulay will be playing a character that Fallout fans won’t forget.

While @VintageCustoms hailed ‘Return of the King’ in the replies, @MisfitActual13 simply said: ‘When the world needed him most, he returned.’
@TiaSchultze also couldn’t wait to see Macaulay back in action: ‘Yay! I want to see you in movies and TV again. I feel awfully sorry for those who never got to experience watching you act when your stuff first came out – so excited for you, Mac.’

Appearing in Fallout will be another step in Macaulay’s journey back to the forefront of TV and film, with the actor having taken several years off from the industry between the mid-90s and mid-2000s.
He returned to TV with brief roles in shows like Will & Grace, American Horror Story, and the Righteous Gemstones, and will play a ‘recurring character’ in Fallout.
His brothers Kieran and Rory have both made successful acting careers for themselves, with the former appearing as Roman Roy in all four seasons of Succession.

The Fallout series was received warmly by fans who had initially been concerned that a TV series would not be faithful to the tone of the popular game series.
X user @EddiePerneva raved: ‘The hype is real – Fallout is by far the best TV show of 2024. By far! That first episode was perfect!’ while Fallout fan Connor described it as ‘near perfect’.
X account Egyptianruin also commented: ‘I didn’t survive the temptation. It was amazing. I laughed, I cried, I laid my party plans to waste like a good wastelander. #Fallout #Sweepstakes #FalloutonPrime.’
Another X user, Claytalian, called for a second season straight away – and the news of Macaulay Culkin’s involvement will no doubt increase their excitement.
