Devon Sawa has brought to life some of the most memorable characters of the â90s, from “Casper” to “Stan”, but one strict on-set rule from his early acting days has stayed with him for decades.
On Wednesday, August 13, the actor took to X to share that a wardrobe policy on the 1994 family film “Little Giants” continues to give him âhigh amounts of anxietyâ more than 30 years later.
Devon Sawa Says âLittle Giantsâ Wardrobe Rule
âOn Little Giants, we would get in trouble if we didnât hang our clothes, including pads and helmet, at the end of each shoot day,â Sawa wrote. âNow, still to this day, if wardrobe takes away my hangers, preventing me from doing so, I get high amounts of anxiety.â
Fond Memories From the Set
Despite the lingering stress from that rule, Sawa, now 46, looks back on “Little Giants” with nothing but affection, in a memorabilia unboxing video with People. The “Final Destination” star unpacked items saved from his career, including his original football helmet and jersey from the film.

âLittle Giants was a blast. It didnât feel like work to me,â Sawa said. âYouâre with all these kids your own age, itâs just like summer camp, kinda.â
From Hockey Rinks to Football Fields

The “Idle Hands” actor, who grew up in Vancouver, joked that he was âa young Canadian hockey player in full football gearâ during the shoot, having never worn a football uniform before.
He also noted that filming “Now and Then” the following year brought a similar âsummer campâ vibe.
During the unboxing, Sawa lit up when he found an unopened VHS tape of Little Giants. âI think I can get, like, $750 for this bad boy. ⦠The olâ VHS tape in the wrapper!â he joked, before making it clear he had no plans to sell it.
When Sawa Reflects on âCasperâ as His First Big Hollywood Film 30 Years Later

In May 2025, “Now and Then” star Sawa credited “Casper” with helping launch his career, saying that even though he was only on set for a week, it was an experience he would never forget.
âIt’s one of the movies that I have the most memories of. It was my first big Hollywood film. It was the first time I ever flew in first class,â Sawa told People in May.
âWalking onto Universal and into this sound stage that they had built an entire house on and meeting Steven Spielberg â I didn’t know I was going to do that.â
âIt was such a small amount of time that created so many amazing memories,â he added. âAnd 30 years, that’s crazy that we’re at 30 years now.â
Still in Touch With His Co-Stars
Fans of the â90s sports comedy will be happy to know Sawa still keeps in touch with several of his “Little Giants” castmates. âTheyâre old friends,â he said, naming Shawna Waldron (Becky), Marcus Toji (Marcus) & Troy Simmons (Hanon) as some of the people he still talks to today.
