Alfonso Ribeiro is back to host “A Capitol Fourth” for 2025. The spectacular event takes place on the West Lawn of the Capitol. It features everything your heart can dream of: a patriotic parade, synchronized flag twirling, and a lineup of some of your favorite musical acts. And, of course, the most magnificent display of fireworks.
This will be the 45th year of the iconic celebration. Whether you’re going to be in D.C. to attend the event or you’ll be tuning in to watch at home on PBS or YouTube like millions of others, here’s what you can expect to see.
Fans Can Expect Grammy-Winning and Legendary Performers
For many people, the music will be the primary focus, and how could it not be? Four-time Grammy Award-winning Gospel legend Yolanda Adams will be performing. Grammy Award-winning musician, producer, and New Orleans legend Trombone Shorty will be there, as will Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle.
And that’s not even half of the memorable musicians that will be there. Motown legends “The Temptations” are also appearing, as are multi-platinum-selling legends “The Beach Boys.” Despite the death of Brian Wilson, the band has soldiered on.
Country music duo LOCASH will be playing their hits, as will country superstar Josh Turner. Last but not least, “American Idol” Season 22 winner Abi Carter will be sharing what she’s been working on since winning in 2024.
Along with the performers mentioned, conductor Jack Everly will be leading the National Symphony Orchestra. Both the “Choral Arts Society of Washington” and “Patrick Lundy & The Ministers of Music” will also be displaying their outstanding vocalists.
This ‘Capitol Fourth’ Coincides With the Armed Services’ 250th Birthday
The “Salute to the Services” portion of the event pays tribute to the men and women who have served in the official branches of the armed services. This year marks the 250th birthday of the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, so expect this section of the celebration to be particularly moving.
To celebrate each branch, military service flags will be displayed. We will also hear the official songs of the various branches, played by the United States Army Band and the Joint Armed Forces Chorus.
Other highlights include the trumpet ensembles performed by the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets and the cannon salutes conducted by the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery. It will all culminate with a rendition of the Armed Forces Medley with the different service branches. Finally, the most spectacular fireworks display will bring the night to a close.
