The rare get-together on Thursday, Dec. 11, offered a nostalgic glimpse into one of television’s most iconic ensembles and underscored the lasting friendships that grew out of the show.

Photos from the reunion captured DeVito, now 81, and Henner, 73, smiling warmly as they posed with Brooks, the creative force behind “Taxi.”

The trio appeared relaxed and genuinely happy, a reminder of the camaraderie that defined the series both on and off screen.

For fans, seeing the actors together again felt like stepping back into the Sunshine Cab Company garage, where the show’s sharp humor and heartfelt moments made it a cultural touchstone.

‘Taxi’ Was Wildly Popular

“Taxi” followed a group of New York City cab drivers whose lives intersected between shifts, blending workplace comedy with surprising emotional depth.

DeVito portrayed the unforgettable Louie De Palma, the short-tempered dispatcher whose insults became legendary.

Henner starred as Elaine Nardo, a confident and independent single mother balancing ambition with compassion.

Their characters often clashed, but the chemistry between the cast helped elevate the show into television history.

James L. Brooks, who later went on to create “The Simpsons” and win multiple Academy Awards for “Terms of Endearment,” has frequently spoken about the special dynamic on “Taxi.”

The series launched or cemented the careers of its ensemble, which also included Judd Hirsch, Tony Danza, Andy Kaufman and Christopher Lloyd.

Though the cast members have taken very different professional paths, reunions like this highlight how deeply connected they remain.

DeVito Gave a Sweet Speech to Honor His Friend

DeVito gave a speech to honor Brooks as he recieved his star.

“It’s so exciting to be here because this is one of my very dearest friends, Jim Brooks. You are so important to me in my life,” he began.

DeVito recalled the humorous moment he went to audition for “Taxi.”

“And I was really nervous, but I wanted the part. And I came into the room,” he began. “I looked at them. I said, ‘One thing I want to know before we start. Who wrote this [explicitive]?’ And I threw it on the table.”

While he shared the funny audition, he had nothing but sweet words for Brooks.

“I genuinely want to say thank you for all you did for me in my life and my career,” DeVito added.

He continued, “I love you and you deserve it and everybody should celebrate you forever and ever.”
