A-Lister Calls Themself ‘Surrogate Mom’ to Diddy’s Children

Fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons announced a surprising new role for herself on the December 4th, 2025 episode of “Today With Jenna & Friends:” acting as a surrogate mom to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ children. “One of my friends who passed away, Kim Porter, I have all of her kids,” Lee Simmons said in the segment. “Even though some of them are adults.” The support comes at an ideal time as the children navigate life while their father is behind bars.

Porter shared four children with Combs, including her oldest son, Quincy Brown, the couple’s biological son, Christian “King” Combs, and twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie. The foursome joins Lee Simmons’ long list of biological and honorary children, including her own daughters, Ming and Aoki, and sons Kenzo, Wolfe, and Djimon. Lee Simmons has long been a part of the Combs kids’ lives thanks to her close friendship with their mother, who died in 2018.

When Kim Porter passed away in 2018 from lobar pneumonia, Lee Simmons was among the many celebrities who paid their respects on social media. In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Lee Simmons shared photos of Porter and her from over the years, illustrating a decades-long friendship that only grew once they had families of their own.

In addition to highlighting some of the major life events she and Porter shared, the fashion designer made her departed friend a promise. “We are, and will always be a family. I will look after yours, and you will look after and guide us all,” Lee Simmons captioned the post. The active role she has taken in the Combs’ children’s lives shows how deeply she values that promise, even seven years after Porter’s death.

In addition to supporting her extended family, Lee Simmons shared her newest project on Today. Her reality show, “Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane,” premiered on E! on December 2nd, 2025. As the designer shared with E! News, part of the impetus for coming back to reality TV is how much her life has changed over the years. “I’m now a mom of five, and I have a lot of other kids all around,” she said. “I’ve changed careers a few times, husbands, investments.”

Even her adult children will be part of the action, giving long-time fans a chance to see Lee Simmons’ kids all grown up. Now, viewers can tune in on Tuesday nights at 10:00 PM EST to catch up on all things Kimora.
