Aaron Taylor-Johnson was floated as a possibility for the next “James Bond” by a very big name: No other than Pierce Brosnan himself, who once played the iconic character.
Brosnan touted Taylor-Johnson for the role in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment.
âI think he would be very good,” the Irish actor told the site.
The Sun reported in March 2025 that the role is Taylor-Johnson’s if he wants it.
“Bond is Aaronâs job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back,” a source told The Sun.
âAs far as Eon (Productions) is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.â
According to The Sun, Taylor-Johnson, who is known for his role in “Kraven: The Hunter,” has expressed an interest in the role, saying, âI find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.â

âI cast him in one of the movies I made a long time ago called ‘The Greatest,’ actually,â Brosnan added, âand he played âthe Greatest.ââ
âThis young man came on the set,â Brosnan told Yahoo Entertainment. He said Taylor-Johnson “took the space, filled the space with passion and energy. So yeah, I think if he wished it, wanted it and got it, he would be great.â
According to Deadline, Brosnan isn’t the only person who has hinted that the actor could be the next James Bond. At CinemaCon, director Danny Boyle said of Taylor-Johnson that he “may or may not be the next Bond.”
People reported that a number of other actors have received mentions as possible James Bonds, including Idris Elba, Dev Patel, Richard Madden, Paul Mescal, and Theo James. Even Brosnan himself is mentioned as a possibility to reprise the role.
“I’ve heard of that,” Brosnan told GQ. “Of course, how could I not be interested?”
But, he added, “It’s a delicate situation now. I think it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie, really … It’s a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart. I think that it’s best left to another man, really. Fresh blood.”
