Adam Peaty has broken his silence after an ongoing family feud ahead of his wedding to Holly Ramsay this Christmas.

The decorated Olympic swimmer’s marriage to Gordon Ramsay’s daughter has come under intense scrutiny after it was first revealed his mum, Caroline, was no longer invited to his wedding.

Over the coming days, his brother James was reportedly arrested upon Adam’s return from his Budapest stag do.

A police statement confirmed a 34-year-old man was ‘arrested on suspicion of harassment. The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.’

Meanwhile, his parents issued pleas for peace in new interviews. Throughout it all, Adam hadn’t released a public statement until now.

In a new post to followers on Instagram, he criticised his family members for ‘encouraging’ the rumours of a rift between him and his immediate loved ones.

He continued: ‘Bethany, Holly and myself cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events.

‘For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place. I am continuing to learn about myself and how I can be the man I want to be; a worthy partner, father, businessman, friend and athlete; even through these challenging times.

‘Bethany, Holly and I will get through this – we do not ask for sympathy. We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story.

‘To those of you who have reached out and shown kindness and understanding – thank you. It is deeply appreciated.’

In a recent Instagram interaction, Caroline thanked her ‘protector’ sister Louise, who has vocally supported her in recent weeks.

‘The moment you realise the little sister who once drove you crazy is now the one who keeps you sane – your loudest supporter and forever best friend,’ Caroline wrote on social media.

She added: ‘Louise I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my protector through this difficult time.

‘To the people who are being so cruel to my sister, please stop! Sadly you obviously don’t understand the bond of sisters.’

In a chat with the Daily Mail, she said: ‘The message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.’

Elsewhere, his father Mark claimed the ‘rift had got out of hand’.

Adam and Holly are set to marry at Bath Abbey on December 27.
