Adam Peaty’s mum has apparently backtracked on her plans to ‘crash’ his wedding to Holly Ramsay this weekend.

The upcoming nuptials of the Olympic swimmer, 30, and Gordon Ramsay’s 25-year-old daughter have come under the spotlight in recent weeks after it was first reported that his mum, Caroline, had been uninvited to their wedding.

The family drama was made public last month after Holly held her hen do at Soho Farmhouse – with her future mother-in-law notably absent.

Soon after sources close to Adam told the media that he’d been ‘changed by money, fame and fortune’, claiming he’d distanced himself from his family.

News then broke that Adam’s brother James was reportedly arrested on ‘suspicions of harassment’ following his stag do in Budapest.

The athlete then went on to release a statement publicly, addressing ‘challenging times’ and asking people to be aware that there are ‘two sides to every story’.

This weekend, on Saturday, the couple’s much talked about wedding will be held at Bath Abbey, with over 200 guests including Sir David and Victoria Beckham due to attend.

Following her snub, a ‘distraught’ Caroline had reportedly planned to turn up anyway – but has now changed her mind.

Speaking to The Sun, a family member explained: ‘She will not be there because it would be too sad and she don’t want to spoil his big day.’

Her change of heart came after she’d previously insisted: ‘I will be there, and I will watch from the street.’

However, her husband Mark dissuaded her from crashing the wedding, telling her it would be ‘too upsetting’ to be there.

This development comes as Holly and her family were spotted leaving their £7.5million Wadsworth mansion to travel to the wedding venue.

On Friday, Holly was seen getting into a car with her dad Gordon, mum Tana, sister Tilly and brother Jack.

The bride-to-be was wearing a long white coat as she left London alongside her family, with her fiancé also photographed leaving the Ramsay family home with them all as well.

It comes a few days after the couple were reported to have frustrated Bath locals and tourists alike after booking out the city’s Abbey for an entire day.

Although Adam and Holly’s ceremony will last a reported 90 minutes, the church is set to be closed to the public all day.

‘Please note the Abbey is closed today. There are no services or visiting times scheduled,’ reads a description on the website for Saturday.

The couple were reportedly able to book the Abbey for their nuptials due to having a ‘special connection’ with it.

As per The Sun, this means they comply with the rule that anyone seeking to hire it must already have an established link.

Conditions for being able to marry at Bath Abbey say it is offered to ‘parishioners, members of the congregation, and those with a qualifying connection to the Abbey’. The nature of their connection to the Abbey is unclear.

One local said their move was ‘selfish’, while a source has also said a security team has been hired to patrol the area and stop onlookers from trying to take photographs of the bride and groom.

In a post shared on Instagram on November 20, Adam criticised his family members for ‘encouraging’ the rumours of a rift between him and his immediate loved ones.

‘Bethany, Holly and myself cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events,’ he said, also referencing his sister, who attended Holly’s hen do.

‘For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place. I am continuing to learn about myself and how I can be the man I want to be; a worthy partner, father, businessman, friend and athlete; even through these challenging times.

‘Bethany, Holly and I will get through this – we do not ask for sympathy. We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story. To those of you who have reached out and shown kindness and understanding – thank you. It is deeply appreciated.’

Adam and Holly met when he competed on Strictly Come Dancing alongside her sister Tilly in 2021.

The swimmer – who shares a five-year-old son with ex-girlfriend Eiri Munro – went public with Holly in June 2023, before going on to propose to her in September last year.

When announcing their engagement, he shared a post paying tribute to his partner: ‘I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I’m truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side. You fill my heart to the brim and give my soul peace.

‘You have been with me when I’ve been at my lowest and helped me understand myself to navigate my own darkness. You have also celebrated the highs which have been so many, as for the first time in my life, I’m happy with the man I’ve become. You came to church with me and joined the incredible community we have there without a question.

‘Your family have always treated me so generously with their time, emotion and trust. I can’t wait to be joined with them too. I’ve always believed that when two people are engaged and later married that we are no longer two people, but we join as one and it’s the biggest privilege to share that with you.’

He added: ‘Seeing you show the love you give to the most important person in my life, George, even from day one, there was never a question about you becoming my wife one day. I’m looking forward to our life together and the many challenges we’ll face. I promise to always love you with all my heart.’
