‘And Just Like That’ to end with season 3

“And Just Like That…” is officially coming to a close. On Friday, Aug. 1, showrunner Michael Patrick King announced that the “Sex & the City” revival series will wrap after Season 3, closing out the reboot with a special two-part finale airing in August.

Following the announcement, Kristin Davis, who has played Charlotte York Goldenblatt since the original series debuted in 1998. On August 1st, Kristin shared a heartfelt message with fans.

“I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love.”

The actress expressed deep gratitude for the fans who’ve supported the show for over two decades:

“And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever. ❤️ Thank you to you all!!! You hold me up and I do not take it for granted!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️”

Davis’s goodbye marked the end of her 26-year journey as Charlotte, a character that’s become an iconic part of pop culture.

Why Season 3 Became the Final Chapter

In a joint Instagram statement with HBO Max, King confirmed the decision to bring the series to an end. “And Just Like That… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,” he wrote.

“While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.”

The team chose not to reveal that Season 3 would be the final season until now, in order to keep the focus on the story itself. “SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” King explained, referencing longtime series star Sarah Jessica Parker, 60.

King also took a moment to thank fans who have supported the series through every incarnation. “It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”

The final two episodes of “And Just Like That…” Season 3 will stream as a two-part finale beginning August 14 on Max.
