Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz Reveal Secret to 15-Year Marriage

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz are marking 15 years of marriage with loving tributes and a renewed celebration of their enduring bond. The longtime couple, who tied the knot on July 31, 2010, shared heartfelt Instagram posts honoring their journey together as partners, parents and creative collaborators.

“We are sublime,” Keys captioned a photo of her and Beatz, followed by a full-length poem that reflected on their connection and growth as a couple. “15 years of magic!! ✨✨✨ And we’re just getting started 🥰.”

Beatz also celebrated the milestone with a sweet message of his own, writing, “Wow when 15yrs feel like 5 🤍 Happy Anniversary my love 🤍 thank you for 15yrs of bliss & happiness plus Love and family 🤍 Today is the 1st day to the rest of our life ♥️ Happy Anniversary THE DEANS.”

The anniversary marks another chapter in a relationship that has grown from teen acquaintances in New York to a blended family of seven, with the couple raising two sons — Egypt, 14, and Genesis, 10 — and co-parenting Beatz’s three children from previous relationships.

“We’ve Never Had An Argument”

Ahead of their anniversary, Beatz opened up to Us Weekly about what has helped their relationship thrive for more than a decade. According to the producer, it all comes down to mutual respect and clear communication.

“We’ve never had an argument,” Beatz said. “Since we’ve been together, our kids [have] never seen it; never seen us raise our voice [or] never seen us yell. Never seen us curse at each other. Why? Because of communication.” 

Beatz emphasized that he and Keys maintain their individuality within the marriage: “She’s her own boss. I’m my own boss. That’s how we make magic when we come together.”

The couple has also taken pride in raising their children with intention. Beatz noted that their son Egypt is dedicated to basketball and piano, crediting Keys for sharing her musical gifts with him. “She plays with him every day and he loves it,” he said. Their older son, Kasseem Jr., 18, was recently accepted into New York University. “For him to go to NYU and pursue his music and business dreams is a dream for me,” Beatz shared.

A Love Story Decades in the Making

Keys and Beatz’s love story began in the 1990s, when they met as teens in New York. Though Keys admitted she didn’t initially hit it off with him, the two reconnected romantically in 2008 after years of moving in the same circles. They got engaged in 2009 and married in 2010 while expecting their first child, Egypt. 

Over the years, they’ve celebrated each other’s achievements and supported one another through personal and professional milestones — including Keys’ recent Dr. Dre Global Impact Award win at the 2025 Grammys and their 2024 “Giants” art exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.

As they continue their journey together, the couple remains focused on growth, family and creativity. “What a time,” Keys wrote in her tribute. “We are sublime.”
