All of Taylor Sheridan’s Upcoming Shows After That Brutal 1923 Finale

Helen Mirren, Taylor Sheridan and Harrison Ford attend the "1923" Las Vegas premiere screening the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas on December 03, 2022

The ‘1923’ season 2 finale was a two-hour gut punch that left fans reeling — and not in a good way. Alex’s fate in the “Yellowstone” prequel sparked outrage online. But that doesn’t mean fans aren’t ready for what’s next in Taylor Sheridan’s TV universe. With “1923” done, here’s what’s next from the neo-Western maestro as he keeps the Dutton universe (and beyond) spinning.

WARNING: ‘1923’ Finale Spoilers Ahead!

Taylor Sheridan Doesn’t Write Fairy Tale Shows

“1923” wrapped its tale of Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) with Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) finally reuniting, only for Alex to die from frostbite after childbirth.

The official synopsis teased a tense wait at the train station and Teonna’s (Aminah Nieves) fateful encounter. But it was the crushing end to Spencer and Alex’s story that had fans heading to social media to share their anger and frustration.

“We waited all season for them to be reunited & then you kill Alex off?,” one fan vented on Instagram.

But Sheridan’s never been one for fairy tales. Just look at “1883” or John Dutton’s fate in “Yellowstone.” As fans continue to process Alex’s death in “1923,” Sheridan is moving ahead with more Dutton-related drama.

The finale confirmed Spencer and Alex’s son as John Dutton II, linking to Kevin Costner’s “Yellowstone” patriarch. According to Variety, another teased Dutton prequel, “1944,” might pick up the thread next. However, details about that upcoming series are scarce.

The ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff ‘6666’ Is a Modern Ranch Tale

Next up in the Sheridanverse is “6666,” a “Yellowstone” spinoff set to roll out in real time at the legendary Four Sixes Ranch in Texas — which Sheridan bought in 2022 for a cool $192 million.

A release date has yet to be locked in, but Paramount has greenlit this one to explore the ranch’s gritty history, which stretches back to when the Comanches ruled West Texas. Fans should expect a contemporary lens on the Dutton legacy, possibly tying in Jimmy (Jefferson White) from “Yellowstone’s” final season.

It’s a slow burn in development. But Sheridan’s hands-on ownership of the real-life ranch promises an authentic vibe that’ll keep fans hooked after “1923’s” emotional wreckage.

Taylor Sheridan New Show ‘The Madison’ is Dutton-Adjacent

“The Madison” is a modern “Yellowstone” offshoot starring Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, a New Yorker uprooting her family to Montana’s Madison River valley after her husband’s death. Filming wrapped in late 2024 across Montana and Texas, with a cast including Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, and Beau Garrett.

Matthew McConaughey was once attached to the project. But after a rework, no “Yellowstone’ crossovers have been confirmed.

“The Madison” is a fresh Dutton-adjacent tale of grief and grit that will likely make its debut in late 2025. It’s Sheridan’s chance to pivot from “1923’s” historical tragedy to a present-day family reckoning.

Meanwhile, “Mayor of Kingstown” season 4, “Tulsa King” season 3, and possibly “Landman” season 2 are simmering, alongside whispers of a Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) “Yellowstone” spinoff.

All five seasons of “Yellowstone” are now streaming on Peacock, and the rest of the Sheridanverse is streaming on Paramount Plus.
