After what feels like aeons trapped in television purgatory, Michael Sheen has shared some news that’s sent his fans to TV heaven.

On December 2, a fan tweeted about a rumoured screening of the hotly anticipated Good Omens season 3.

‘Another little bird is singing about a cast and crew screening of Good Omens 3 that took place last night,’ they posted.

Soon after, however, Michael, 56, replied, confirming that there had indeed been a screening.

‘We had a screening last night,’ he wrote. ‘I laughed and I cried. There’ll be bits you absolutely love, and there’ll be things you argue about, of course.

‘It should have been 6 episodes, but it’s not. Thank God for what it is. Brilliantly directed, beautiful performances, fantastic new looks, incredible work all around.’

On X, @tracypoolverine wrote: ‘Omg omg omg omg omg you guys!. Meanwhile, @evillorddracula added: ‘I’m scared and excited. I’m going to be sick. I’m going to be sick.’

It wasn’t just users on X who felt such rapturous joy. On Reddit Even_Fig1031 claimed seeing the tweet made them ‘feel like crying happy and sad tears about the fact that it’s happening’.

Finally, thelma1907 wrote: ‘Full body chills and my head is off my shoulders! I think I didn’t think it would actually happen! I’m so fricken excited!’

The reason for the fans’ unrestrained excitement is that it’s been more than two years since the second series ended on a cliffhanger. and the series has been trapped in production hell.

A third outing was announced in late 2023 however, production was delayed by multiple sexual assault allegations made against co-creator Neil Gaiman.

While Gaiman denies all the allegations against him, he would later leave, and the series was cut back to a single 90-minute episode.

While Michael’s tweet may have been harp music to fans’ ears, we’ve got some hellishly bad news.

We still do not have an official release date for Good Omens 3; however, it is expected to be out in 2026.

That means you have a month or two at least to wait.

The Good Omens tTV show was created by Gaiman and is based on his 1990 novel of the same name that he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett.

The show follows the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael), as they try and enjoy a quiet life on modern-day Earth while avoiding the seemingly never-ending war between heaven and hell.

Good Omens is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
