“Teen Mom” personality Amber Portwood‘s fiance, Gary Wayt, is “reported missing,” per Us Weekly.
The Bryson City Police Department, located in Bryson City, North Carolina, reported Wayt has not been seen since June 9, 2024 in a June 11 Facebook post. The social media included a description of the 39-year-old.
“Missing person GARY R. WAYT. 39 yrs old. 6’01” 205 pounds bald with brown eyes, last seen 06/09/2024 on Arlington Ave. area of Bryson City NC. Drive a grey SUV 2009 Nissan Rogue with Indiana state registration plate,” read the Facebook post.
Those who have information about the matter are urged to “call (828) 488-2196.” After calling the number, those who have details regarding Wayt should “[a]sk for Chief Robinson or Assnt. Chief Dover” to assist in the active investigation.
According to Us Weekly, a source said Portwood “has been trying to locate [Wayt] and went to the police.”
“She hasn’t heard from him and he hasn’t communicated with her or his family. She reported him missing to local police on June 10. His parents haven’t heard from him either,” continued the insider.
Amber Portwood Stars in the Second Season of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’
Portwood is currently starring in the second season of “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.” In season 2, episode 2, which aired on June 6, Portwood’s ex-fiance Gary Shirley invited her to celebrate their daughter, Leah’s 15th birthday.
While speaking to his wife, Kristina Shirley, Gary Shirley suggested he was nervous about Portwood coming to Leah’s celebration.
“I want nothing but a healthy relationship for those two. I’ve been trying to have a healthy relationship with Amber. I have to be a parent,” said the father of two.
During the birthday dinner, Portwood told her daughter that she “will need her more than ever because [she’s] about to get real crazy.” The 34-year-old also announced that she had begun dating Wayt. When her 15-year-old daughter replied, “I’m scared,” Portwood criticized her reaction.
“When I’m around [Leah], she brings out the worst of me — not the worst — but the most sarcastic part of me — she just pushes it. She’s also very sarcastic. I love her to death,” said Portwood.
When Portwood offered to show her daughter a picture of Wayt, Leah declined. She also asked her mother, who also has a 6-year-old son named James Andrew, if she wants another child.
“Yes I do,” said Portwood.
Eventually, Leah looked at the photo of Wayt. In response, she patted her mother’s head and said, “As long as he makes you happy,” which upset Portwood.
“That’s her being a [expletive]. See you make me want to cuss,” said the mother of two.
Leah told her mother to “have some self-control.”
Portwood and Gary Shirley eventually delved into an argument, causing Leah to cry.
“Can you both stop, please?” said the 15-year-old tearfully.

A day after “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” season 2, episode 2 aired, Gary Shirley uploaded two pictures of Leah and his other daughter, Emilee, whom he shares with his wife. The Instagram upload showed the father of two sitting between his two daughters on a leather chair.
“2 of the most amazing girls on this planet. @kristina_shirley3 @itsleahtime12 😂 👋,” read the caption of the June 7 post.
Several fans flocked to the post’s comments section to share their thoughts about the pictures and “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” season 2, episode 2.
“Those girls are lucky to have you and Kristina! The last episode just broke my heart!!!! You gave Amber SO much grace!” wrote a commenter.
“Last nights episode was painful to watch. Amber is out of control. Leah is gorgeous and where she needs to be with you and Kristina!” added another.
