American comedian Amy Schumer has announced that she is divorcing her husband Chris Fischer after seven years of marriage.

The I Feel Pretty star tied the knot to chef and farmer Fischer in 2018, and welcomed six-year-old son Gene a year later.

Speculation began last month that their marriage was in turmoil after she deleted all of her pictures from her Instagram account – replacing them with just a single post.

In this selection of snaps showcasing her recent weight loss, Schumer posed with son Gene (his face covered with emojis) – and minus her wedding ring.

Schumer has now confirmed that the marriage is over, taking to Instagram this weekend with a statement on behalf of herself and Fischer.

‘Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,’ the comedienne’s post began.

After scattering another trio of ‘blah blah blahs,’ Schumer hinted that their split was not due to her recent weight loss, adding: ‘not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s [sic] basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes [sic] beard award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.’

She signed off: ‘Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.’

This comes after a source told The Daily Mail that their marriage began to implode at around the same time as ‘she got skinny.’

Another insider said: ‘Amy doesn’t talk about Chris that much anymore, it’s like they are no longer close.

‘He is never around, and she has not taken him on a red carpet for months.’

The outlet’s source also claimed that Fischer’s autism diagnosis played a part in their fractured marriage, adding: ‘He doesn’t even get her jokes, and being funny and making people laugh is important to her.

‘Also, there is that classic cliche: when a woman loses weight, her personality changes.

‘Amy has changed since losing weight, she is much lighter in her spirit, more easygoing. I think she wants more out of life.’

However, in a recent Instagram Story, Schumer denied both claims, writing that ‘whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism.’

Earlier this year, the Kinda Pregnant star addressed her dramatic weight loss, claiming that she had shed 50 pounds – and not 30, as it was initially reported – to survive a potentially life-threatening medical condition.

‘I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it and that disease has cleared,’ she said in a video posted to social media.

This was seemingly in reference to her 2024 diagnosis with Cushing’s Syndrome – a rare condition caused by having too much of the hormone cortisol in one’s body.

Schumer revealed at the time that she had developed the disorder after receiving steroid injections to treat scars from her C-section and breast reduction surgeries.

According to the NHS, a rounder face is the most visible symptom of Cushing’s Syndrome, while sufferers can also expect to experience muscle weakness, intense mood swings, and body fat on the neck, upper back, chest and tummy.

Schumer, who has also admitted to having plastic surgery, liposuction and taking the weight loss drug Mounjaro, signed off: ‘Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight.’
