Anchorman’s David Koechner Leads Killer Tomatoes Sequel at Comic-Con
The tomatoes are back, and this time, theyâve gone high-tech. Comic-Con 2025 will host the wildest reboot of the year as cult comedy classic “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” returns in a brand-new installment titled “Organic Intelligence.” And at the center of the tomato mayhem? “Anchorman” favorite David Koechner, who leads a star-studded cast into the franchiseâs weirdest chapter yet.
Per Daily Dead, horror fans descending on San Diego wonât just be watching the chaos, they might be part of it. Comic-Con attendees will get a first look at exclusive footage from the film, plus a chance to appear in it themselves. A one-of-a-kind photo booth at Booth #3921 will drop fans into the tomato uprising, with selected participants possibly earning a cameo in the actual movie.

Koechner plays a key role in this tech-fueled revival, joined by “Veep” actor Dan Bakkedahl, Daniel Roebuck of “The Munsters,” and genre icon Eric Roberts from “Runaway Train.” The cast also features Paul Bates from “Coming to America,” Vernee Watson from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” and younger stars like Catherine Corcoran from “Terrifier,” Samantha Bailey from “Just Add Magic,” Zachary Roozen from “Romeo and Juliet Killers,” and Noor Razooky from “The Old Man.” Legendary actor John Astin also returns, reprising his original role as mad scientist Professor Gangreen from the earlier films.
Created by Costa Dillion, Steven Peace, and John DeBello, the “Killer Tomatoes” franchise launched in 1978 and quickly grew into a cult phenomenon. It even spawned an animated series and gave George Clooney one of his earliest roles in 1988âs “Return of the Killer Tomatoes.”
Comic-Con Panel Reveals Exclusive Footage and Interactive Fan Experience
The official panel takes place Saturday, July 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in Room 6A. Director David Ferino and producer Michael Polis, known for “Yo Gabba Gabba,” will be joined by cast members and a fully puppeteered killer tomato named Norman. Fans can expect behind-the-scenes insights, new footage, and unexpected reveals.
Meanwhile, the immersive booth experience at #3921 promises exclusive collectibles including limited edition trading cards, 11×17 teaser posters, and the wildest merch of the con: custom âBULL AIRSâ sneakers designed just for the event. The entire activation is presented by Atomic Toybox and Anchor Bay.
