Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater put on united front at premiere following split rumours

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have put split rumours to rest as they were snapped at the Wicked: For Good New York premiere on Monday night.

The popstar, 32, and the actor, 33, have given each other a wide berth in recent weeks as they have promoted their new film Wicked: For Good.

While at promotional events for the film, the pair have kept their distance on the red carpet and barely been snapped together, sparking rumours that the pair have gone their separate ways.

However, last night the pair seemed to put on a united front in New York as they were seen having a rare interaction while posing for cameras at the premiere.

Ariana and Ethan could be seen standing close to one another at a photo op, with Ethan gazing at her adoringly as she raised her hands.

They were also snapped having a group conversation with their fellow castmates as they chatted amongst themselves between snaps.

According to reports earlier this month, the pair have been ‘on and off for most of this year.’ One source told The Daily Mail that Slater, 33, skipped the MTV VMAs after a spat with Grande, though the couple reportedly reconciled soon after.

The duo first met on the set of the Oscar-winning Wicked movie in 2022 while Ethan was still in a relationship. Ariana was not long separated from her real estate realtor ex-husband Dalton Gomez, whom she married in 2021, with their divorce finalised in 2024.

Ethan was with his ex-wife, Clinical psychologist, Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a three-year-old child. The couple were high school sweethearts who married in 2018 and divorced in 2023.

Soon after their relationship was made public, Lilly issued a scathing statement that ripped into Ariana following the breakdown of her marriage.

‘[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl,’ she told Page Six. ‘My family is just collateral damage.’

News of their romance broke in July 2023, and while the pair rarely speaks about their relationship, Ariana previously defended Ethan against claims he abandoned his wife and their young son.

She told Vanity Fair of Ethan that ‘no-one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about’.

After the London premiere, where the pair didn’t pose together on the carpet apart from in group shots, it was reported that their relationship is ‘the real deal’.

A source has now told People that the couple is better than ever and ‘making it work’ despite their jam-packed schedules.

‘They both have a lot going on, but their relationship is the real deal,’ the source said. ‘They’re incredibly supportive of each other’s careers and so excited for everyone to see their new film.’
