A Junior Bake Off judge has been forced to clarify that David Blaine will not be performing a live endurance stunt at her restaurant.

Pastry chef Ravneet Gill, who replaced Prue Leith on the children’s version of the Channel 4 baking show in 2020, has recently opened her first restaurant named Gina in Chingford alongside her husband, Mattie Taiano.

The 34-year-old has been open about the challenge of opening a restaurant in the middle of a hospitality crisis.

Now, however, after sending a joke DM to David asking whether he will sit in her glass conservatory, the chef has been told by her management team to make it clear that the 52-year-old magician is not performing at Gina.

Taking to Instagram, Ravneet wrote: ‘We are aware some people believe Mr Blaine is genuinely performing a live endurance stunt in our conservatory.
To clarify: he is not.

‘To further clarify: unless he sees this and changes his mind, in which case door is open hun.’

Accompanying her hilarious caption, Ravneet shared a series of emails and messages she has received about the ‘David Blaine saga’.

One email she shared was from a prospective customer who asked to combine a Christmas table booking ‘with David Blaine’s residency’.

Meanwhile, she explained that her mum and brother both believed he was doing a show and asked management about when he is coming.

Commenting beneath her post, Harry Hill – who hosts Junior Bake Off – wrote: ‘Yes but is it still happening?’.

Ravneet then joked: ‘Yes. We’re just finalising the risk assessment,’ which received several laughing emojis from other followers.

Blaine, who is an American magician, mentalist, and endurance performer, became famous for his ‘street magic’ style in the late 1990s.

His most well-known stunts include being buried alive, frozen in ice and holding his breath for over 17 minutes.

But what he is perhaps most known for is surviving 44 weeks with no food inside a glass box in London, which is what customers believed he would be re-creating at Ravneet’s restaurant.

In another statement on her Instagram, Ravneet reinforced that for ‘legal reasons, emotional reasons, and common sense reasons: this is a JOKE.’

She added: ‘David Blaine has seen my DM and ignored it, so until he replies the only person doing any endurance stunt in this box is me, trying to survive January in hospitality.’
