EA’s beta for Battlefield 6 has opened to strong numbers on Steam and Twitch, although people have already found ways to get around the anti-cheat system.

Given how much studio manpower EA has thrown behind it, a lot is riding on the success of Battlefield 6, but early signs suggest their gamble might just pay off.

Thousands of people were already queuing up for the open beta before it launched in early access yesterday, and now, before the beta is even open to everyone, it’s already making waves across Steam and Twitch.

Over the past 24 hours, Battlefield 6’s open beta has reached a player peak of 334,549. At the time of writing, this makes it the fourth most-played title on Steam, behind only Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.

The numbers are particuarly impressive when compared to past Battlefield games. The beta has already surpassed the highest player peak of previous entry Battlefield 2042 (107,376) and most-played title Battlefield 5 (116,104).

It hasn’t topped Call Of Duty’s player numbers on the platform, which has a peak of 491,670 across Warzone and Black Ops 6, but there’s a chance Battlefield 6 could surpass this figure when the beta is released to everyone from Saturday, August 9. At the moment it’s only available to those in early access.

Over on Twitch, the picture is even more positive. Battlefield 6 has already racked up a peak viewership of 868,520, which is higher than every Call Of Duty title outside of Warzone. The latter has a record high of 1,613,626 viewers (via TwitchTracker) and, again, Battlefield 6 could surpass those numbers over the weekend.

Notably, the peak viewership for Battlefield 6 is already higher than Rainbow Six Siege (583,166), Overwatch 2 (634,296), and PUBG: Battlegrounds (597,663).

There are some downsides to popularity though, as made evident by the presence of cheaters already in the beta. EA is launching Battlefield 6 with its newly evolved and rebranded proprietary anti-cheat system, Javelin. But it seems like players have already found a way around its kernel-level security systems.

Various clips have already circulated online showing players with the ability to see enemy positions on the map. ‘This footage proves CHEATS are FULLY FUNCTIONAL on Day 1 of the early access beta,’ YouTuber ItsHapa posted on X.

While the presence of cheaters in the beta gives the developers time to iron out these kinks for when the game launches, it’s nevertheless not the best start for a new anti-cheat system in the company’s biggest competitive shooter.

Battlefield 6 launches on October 10, 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A battle royale spin-off is also rumoured to be in the works.
