Another BBC comedy has threatened Gavin and Stacey’s claim as this year’s best Christmas TV show.
Viewers have said their ‘cheeks are hurting from 70 minutes of non-stop laughter’ after watching Cunk on Life tonight.
The special sees Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) pursuing her ‘most ambitious quest to date’ as she probes experts about the universe.
The show was a huge hit with fans on X with @mrkphllps1 exclaiming: ‘Philomena Cunk comparing God to a toxic narcissist is peak Christmas TV #CunkOnLife.’
Echoing their sentiment, @rycbar32_ raved: ‘Well #CunkonLife was absolutely brilliant.’
@lucf124 commented: ‘Philomena Cunk is so funny every time, was in tears laughing for the entire hour #CunkOnLife.’

@AshyAS_ said: ‘My cheeks are hurting from 70 minutes of non-stop laughter. #cunkonlife you didn’t disappoint!’
@Peter_H_Todd added: ‘Absolutely love Philomena Cunk character! You try to think of the questions that she may ask – then Phiomena asks even more funny questions! Glad we have a 70 minute special! #CunkOnLife.’
In Cunk on Life, the ill-informed ‘investigative reporter’ seeks illumination on topics including Quantum Physics, Existentialism, Nihilism and Hedonism.
She also explores subjects from the Big Bang to biology, morals to meditation and art to artificial intelligence.

During her latest search for answers, Cunk’s quest for knowledge sees her scrutinise historical figures that changed the way we look at the world.
They’ll include Dostoyevsky, Van Gogh and Nietzsche as well as ‘whoever came up with those signs in kitchens that say, “Live Laugh Love”.’
Speaking to the BBC ahead of the special airing, Cunk detailed the extensive research she undertook before filming.
‘I studied the work of all the major motivational fridge magnet makers and mixed it with some eastern philosophies I’d learned about from TikTok,’ she said.

Cunk also revealed what’s next after engaging in so many mentally stimulating discussions with the world’s leading thinkers.
‘I’ll probably just have a sit down, eat a Ritz biscuit and listen some ambient noise for a bit until me Ocado turns up. And I’m thinking of going on tour where I lip sync to my audiobooks. Save my voice,’ she explained.
After Cunk on Britain was released in 2018, Cunk on Earth followed four years later.
That special holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with fans sharing they were impressed by its ‘superb satire’ and others said it was a ‘quintessential showcase of British humour’.
Cunk on Life is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. Viewers outside of the UK and Ireland will be able to watch it on Netflix from January 2.
