In a shock announcement, BBC news presenter Aaron Heslehurst has announced he will be quitting after 22 years with the company.
Aaron, 57, has been working as a broadcaster for over three decades and moved to the BBC in 2002.
He later continued that he was not only stepping down from his role as a World Business reporter but retiring completely.
‘I guess it’s time to share something with you. This week will be my very last show at the BBC,’ he wrote on X.
‘After 30yrs in TV news & 22.5 of them at the BBC it’s time to close this chapter! For those who’ve enjoyed my shows over the years I say THANK YOU! It’s been an honour & a privilege.’
Over his career, Aaron has been seen on World News, the BBC’s 24-hour news channel as well as stints on BBC Breakfast.

In response to the well wishes, the presenter shared: ‘With tears in my eyes and hand on heart – I was not expecting (at all) such an outpouring of love & gratitude!
‘You know, you just do your job day in & day out and never really realise it’s impact on people. So, I can’t thank you enough. I’ll still be here on X so stick with me😘.’
For his initial announcement, Aaron did not state his plans after the BBC so David Wallsworth commented: ‘What a fantastic career, so far! I hope your next move is equally exciting and fulfilling.’
Laughing the presenter replied: ‘What do you mean so far mate? I’m 57 this year and going to pack it in while I’m still walking 😂😂.’
However, he did hint that ‘special projects’ such as moderating or hosting duties could still be on the cards.
The Aussie native started his journalistic career as a news reporter for Prime Television and Seven Network in Sydney and Canberra.
He’s worked for outlets such as CNBC Nordic, Real TV News, and as the European Bureau Chief for Paramount Pictures.
With BBC World News Aaron hosted Fasttrack, a weekly travel news programme with his specialism lying in aviation.

Fellow reporters shared their well wishes, with Mariko Oi joking he was the only thing that helped keep her awake when reporting over the time difference, sharing a video of the pair.
‘Love this Mariko & love you! Too funny. Thank you for all those fun years,’ shared Aaron back.
Ben Thompson shared: ‘From the day I arrived at the BBC, you’ve been a brilliant friend, not just a colleague. Thank you for all the words of wisdom, the many wines (see attached) and for making me laugh most days for twenty years. We will miss you hugely. ❤️’
