Lasse Hallstrom’s new romantic drama The Map That Leads to You has landed with a bang on Amazon Prime a day after its release.

It also stars Sofia Wylie, Ozark’s Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman, and Yellowstone’s Josh Lucas.

The romantic flick is shooting up the Amazon Prime movie charts and landed the number one spot today ahead of Barbie.

It’s also racing up the top of overall film and TV charts in sixth place behind The Summer I Turned Pretty and ahead of Clarkson’s Farm.

An adaptation of JP Monninger’s novel of the same name, The Map That Leads to You follows Jack and Heather as they grow close over a summer of wine, nibbles and sightseeing bliss, until a devastating secret is unearthed and Jack disappears.

Initial reviews are largely positive, as Rotten Tomatoes critics took to the page to share their thoughts.

‘Most accurate depiction of backpacking Europe I’ve ever seen! Here for it!’ said Danielle L.

‘Wow, what a beautiful movie!’ began imme-van-gorp on IMDB. ‘This had exactly what a good romantic drama should give: True chemistry, genuine emotion, gorgeous settings, real love, severe heartbreak, and just something that truly sweeps you up and puts you on a roller coaster ride of feelings!

‘It went from warm and fuzzy to devastating and heart-rending very slowly, and so I felt like those feelings all came very naturally and, therefore, all the more heartbreakingly.

‘In other words, this movie was so lovely yet so sad, and it definitely did exactly what it needed to do to have me in a passionate chokehold from start to finish.’
