The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of James Ransone, who died by suicide on Friday, December 19, New York Post reports. He was 46. The actor is beloved for his roles in “The Wire,” “Generation Kill,” “Bosch,” and “It Chapter Two.”

He led an interesting and complicated life and had a close relationship with another actor and co-star, bonding over many aspects of their lives, including their “darkest parts” of their personalities.

Ransone starred in “It Chapter Two” as Eddie Kaspbrak, and one of his co-stars was Bill Hader, who played Richie Tozier. The two actors shared a close relationship. The natural bond between co-stars made audiences wonder whether they had known each other before appearing in the film, and this was something Ransone was asked about in an interview with Anthem in 2019.

Ransone was questioned about his “special bond” with Hader, which was highlighted in group interviews and on social media. Ransone revealed that they had known each other for a decade. They first met at an audition for “Public Enemies,” but they also shared similarities.

“I think Bill and I share really similar sensibilities about what we think is funny, what music we like,” he said. “On top of that, I think we had very similar backgrounds growing up, too. It’s very much the same with Isaiah Mustafa, too. I think that really helped. My sense of humor falls very much into ‘South Park.’  I just think that (expletive) so funny—anything super irreverent that’s going to make everybody else super (expletive) off. And the more absurd it gets, the better. It just makes me so happy. So we didn’t have that much work to do.”

Ransone and Hader also bonded authentically, addressing darker aspects of their lives. “The other thing is that, when I saw Hader in Toronto, we sat down and we immediately started talking about the darkest parts of our personalities,” he shared. “Usually, the funniest people have the most (expletive) up backgrounds.”

Ransone starred with many big stars throughout his career, including entertainment industry icon John Travolta in the 2016 western film “In a Valley of Violence.” In a 2016 chat with Interview magazine, he was asked what it was like working with John Travolta. “Great! I thought it was going to be terrible, but it was great,” he said.

When pushed as to why he thought the experience may not have been a good one, Ransone, in his typical honest approach, said, “Most of the time movie stars are (expletives). He couldn’t have been sweeter. He couldn’t have been more gracious. Truly. If I was playing lip service I’d be like, ‘Yeah it was fun, moving on.’ That one was funny because I was proven really wrong with him. He’s a very thoughtful, considerate person.”
