Mitchum died at his ranch home in Skull Valley, Arizona, on September 20, but his passing was only shared publicly weeks later. His wife Pamela K. Smith and their beloved pet poodle were at his side when he passed away, Deadline reports. The actor is also survived by his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren. His children are listed as daughter Ana Liljeback, son Will Spence Mitchum, stepdaughter Tiffany Mitchum Greene, son Brian Price Mitchum, and daughter Caitlin Ann Mitchum.Â
Some fans may remember Mitchum for his earlier acting work, including the 1958 classic, âThunder Road,â in which he starred with his father, Robert Mitchum. Jim was just 16 at the time of the film.Â

Jim started acting when he was eight years old. His film debut was the 1949 Western âColorado Territory,â starring Dorothy Malone, Joel McCrea, and Virginia Mayo. He retired from acting in 1994 and relocated to Arizona to focus on his parentsâ horse ranch, the New York Post reports. His father, Robert, died in 1994. He was 79. Jimâs mother, Dorothy Spence, died in 2014. She was 94.Â
Jim also had a brief career as a singer and was friends with Elvis Presley, Deadline reports.
