Rolling Ray’s Death Confirmed by His Mother

His mother shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional Facebook post on Wednesday, writing, “It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I let you know that my son Ray Ray (@Iamrollingray) has gone home to be with the Lord. I thank everyone who has called or texted. This is going to be a long road.”

Ray, born Raymond Harper, was just days away from celebrating his 29th birthday. The Washington, D.C.–based personality had built a large following across Instagram and TikTok for his bold commentary on lifestyle, relationships, and pop culture.

Viral Fame & Reality TV Appearances

Calling himself “the most famous boy inna wheelchair,” Ray first went viral for his comedic and outspoken internet skits. He later appeared on MTV’s Catfish: Trolls, Divorce Court, and the LGBTQ+ dating series Bobby I Love You, Purrr.

He became a fixture in D.C.’s music and activist scene, often performing during Black Lives Matter protests and turning his disability into a defining, powerful part of his public persona.

Health Struggles in Recent Years

Ray faced serious health challenges in the years before his death. He battled pneumonia, a blood infection, and was previously hospitalized in 2022 with COVID-19 and complications. In May 2024, he revealed he had been rushed to intensive care after his breathing dropped, admitting he feared he might not make it to Mother’s Day.

“My immune system isn’t strong enough to fight it by myself,” he shared at the time.

We came together and showed the world how two different people from 2 separate paths in life can put hate aside and create magic. You are loved all over the world, and you will be missed dearly. Spread your wings and fly my iconic friend Rolling Ray.”

Screenwriter Angel Williams remembered him as “so filled with life. Even when you was sick, you smiled, laughed and joked… Rest in peace.”
