Leoni, 59, and Daly, 69, first met in 2014 on the set of “Madam Secretary”. They played on-screen spouses Elizabeth and Henry McCord. The political drama ran for six seasons, from September 2014 through December 2019.

In December 2014, People confirmed the two were dating after they were spotted together over the summer. Leoni attended Daly’s performance in Red at Vermont’s Dorset Theatre over the Fourth of July weekend.

Their Romance Followed Leoni’s Divorce

Leoni’s relationship with Daly began shortly after she finalized her divorce from actor David Duchovny. They were married for 17 years, in August 2014.

The couple made their public debut at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2015. They were joined at the event by legendary journalist Bob Schieffer and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, posing for group photos. “We’re gonna be a hot table,” Daly joked to Bloomberg TV ahead of the event.

Schieffer added: “I called Téa and said, ‘How would you like to come?’ And I said, you know, we’d love to have you bring Tim along.”

Their Co-Stars Were Surprised — But Supportive

Shortly after their red carpet appearance, “Madam Secretary” co-star Geoffrey Arend spoke to People in April 2015 about the couple’s low-key romance. “I heard a rumor about it, and everyone was like, ‘No, no way!’ And I’m like, ‘Maybe,’” Arend said.

“Nobody really knew. You don’t want to go to your boss and be like, ‘Hey, so who are you dating?’ So now I think we’re all really protective.” He added: “He couldn’t be a nicer guy. Tim’s the best — they’re really good together.”

On “Madam Secretary,” Téa Leoni and Tim Daly portrayed married couple Elizabeth and Henry McCord. Fans were stunned to learn their on-screen chemistry had spilled into real life. Off-camera, the pair had quietly fallen for each other, too. For Daly, love and family have always been at the heart of what matters most.

Back in 1993, he shared, “It’s more important to be loved and respected by people who live with you every day than by millions of faceless people.”

Now, decades later, Daly — who found lasting love both onscreen and off — continues to live by those words.
