As millions of Americans search for the best fireworks shows happening in their communities on July 4, 2025, plenty of others just want to find the most dazzling displays and festivities on TV, including a wide range of star-studded concerts, to watch from the comfort of their own homes.
Maybe you can do both! Is a city near you included in the nationally televised programming scheduled this holiday? Here’s where you’ll find the best fireworks shows on TV tonight.
Macy’s Spectacular is Among Best Fireworks Shows, With Biggest Display in NYC Yet
Macy’s 49th annual Fireworks Spectacular will draw huge crowds in New York City, but you can watch the massive, “one-of-a-kind” pyrotechnics display and star-studded concert on NBC and Peacock. The two-hour show begins with a star-studded concert at 8 p.m. Eastern time, so the fireworks display is likely to begin around 9:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Staged from the Brooklyn Bridge, Macy’s will fire more than 80,000 shells in 30 vibrant colors, per a press release. That’s an increase from 60,000 in 2024, per Deadline.
The show’s state-of-the-art pyrotechnic effects will feature “crackling crown jellyfish, atomic rings, yellow & green sunbursts, strobing lemon cascades, comet fans” and the signature “Macyâs Golden Mile.” The spectacle will all be choreographed to a 25-minute musical score composed by The Roots’ Ahmir âQuestloveâ Thompson and James Poyser.
CNN Will Feature Fireworks Displays in Cities Across the U.S.
For the fifth year in a row, CNN will host “The Fourth in America” with correspondents and camera feeds stationed throughout the nation. They’ll capture fireworks displays in 30 cities and performances by music stars including Noah Kahan, Lainey Wilson, The Fray, Nelly, and more.
CNN anchors Dana Bash and Boris Sanchez will host the coverage from Washington, D.C., where a huge fireworks display will take place above Capitol Hill, while Sara Sidner and Victor Blackwell will be in San Diego for that city’s “Big Bay Boom” fireworks display.
Sidner’s morning co-host John Berman will be on-the-ground reporting from Nashville, while CNN national correspondent Randi Kaye will be in Fort Lauderdale and senior data reporter Harry Enten reports from New York City, according to Billboard.
Other cities where CNN will also feature footage from top-notch fireworks displays, per Billboard, include Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, New Orleans, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and even Seward, Alaska. Â
Washington D.C.’s ‘A Capitol Fourth’ to Be Featured on PBS Special
Not to be outdone, organizers of the popular “A Capitol Fourth” celebration in Washington D.C. call it “the greatest display of fireworks in the nation.”
The 45th annual event, which includes a patriotic concert and large fireworks display over the National Mall, will air on PBS stations from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern time. According to the National Parks Service, the fireworks are set to begin at precisely 9:09 p.m. and last for exactly 17-and-a-half minutes.
As is a long-standing “Capitol Fourth” tradition, the fireworks will kick off with the playing of the “1812 Overture” accompanied by live cannon fire, provided by the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery, per a press release. As the fireworks light up the sky, The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, and The Joint Armed Forces Chorus will play a musical finale.
