Fans of “Yellowstone” know that the fiery romance between Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) has always been the emotional backbone of the series. From their teenage beginnings to their passionate, chaotic adult love, the couple finally tied the knot in season 4 and took in troubled teen Carter (Finn Little) soon after. Now, their story is set to continue in a highly anticipated spinoff â and hereâs everything we know so far.
‘Yellowstone’ Sets a New Beginning for Beth and Rip
While “Yellowstone” wrapped season 5 with a sense of finality, it wasnât the end for Beth and Rip. Though many expected their storyline to be folded into a potential season 6, behind-the-scenes negotiations reportedly shifted plans toward creating a new spinoff series centered solely on the fan-favorite couple.
According to Deadline, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have both closed deals to return, and though Paramount has yet to make an official announcement, the stars are all but confirming the news. When a fan asked Reilly on Instagram whether the rumors were true, she simply replied, âTrue.â Hauser also hinted at the future, sharing a nostalgic “Yellowstone” photo on his account with the caption, âSee ya on the next.â
As for the plot, the spinoff will pick up after Beth and Rip purchased a new 7,000-acre ranch in Montana, not part of the Dutton familyâs empire. âForty miles west of Dillon, over two hours from an airport, not a (expletive) ski resort in sight,â she said in the “Yellowstone” season 5 finale, setting the stage for a more remote, stripped-down continuation of their life together. The couple will likely run cattle and horses on the land, diving even deeper into the cowboy lifestyle away from the drama of the Yellowstone Ranch.
Title, Timing, and Where to Watch the Beth and Rip âYellowstoneâ Spinoff
The new series doesnât have a title yet, but reports suggest it will carry the “Yellowstone” name, unlike its prequel predecessors â1883,â â1923,â or the upcoming â1944.â That branding decision could be tied to streaming rightsâthe original “Yellowstone” still airs exclusively on Peacock, while Paramount+ houses the rest of the Duttonverse. Launching this as a fresh title gives Paramount a chance to retain control and stream it on its own platform.
Thereâs also a chance this show could connect to âThe Madison,â another Taylor Sheridan spinoff reportedly set in Dillon, Montana â the same region Beth mentions. While no crossover has been confirmed, fans might see the universes intersect in future seasons.
Production on the Beth and Rip series is reportedly targeting summer 2025. According to Puckâs Matthew Belloni, Sheridan is âplanning to shoot the Yellowstone spinoff with Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly this summerâ and is currently casting a new character â someone âKevin Costnerâlikeâ to round out the cast, though definitely not Costner himself.
