Tina Knowles‘ long-awaited “Matriarch” memoir is just weeks away from its release date!
“It’s funny, because I’m doing the audiobook and some chapters, I’m still crying,” Knowles said in an interview with Us Weekly. “I’m like, ‘How many times am I going to read this and cry?’ I guess the answer is forever, because it’s my life. It’s my history.”
Knowles, the mother of Grammy-winning superstars Beyoncé and Solange, celebrated her 71st birthday on Jan. 4, 2025. Throughout the ’90s and early 2000s, Knowles was in charge of Destiny’s Child’s look, from styling their hair to designing their stage costumes at a time when designers refused to dress them, according to Vogue. Knowles shared that her greatest wish is to bring readers “a sense of community” by sharing her story.
“It’s all about that,” Knowles told Us Weekly. “Also, a big, big, big hope is that people will understand how important it is to look into your past, learn about your ancestors, and pass that history on to your children and your grandchildren. That’s what I’m hoping that will happen from this book.”
Tina Knowles Announced Her ‘Matriarch’ Memoir In October 2024
In an Instagram post on October 29, 2025, Knowles not only announced her memoir “Matriarch,” but she also shared the inspiration behind the title.
“I am calling this book MATRIARCH because what inspires me is the wisdom that women pass on to each other, generation to generationâand the inner wisdom we long to uncover in ourselves,” Knowles’ caption read in part. “Even at 70 I am still learning valuable lessonsârevelations that I wish that I would have had at 40 or even 20. I want to share this knowledge now, one to one with the reader, as we laugh and sometimes cry together through all the stages of our lives.”
She also posted the stunning book cover, which features a painted portrait of Knowles striking a powerful pose. Beyoncé shared a post of her own via Instagram, congratulating her mom on the exciting news.
“Mama, I couldn’t be prouder. My love for you goes beyond what I can say. You put your heart into this book,” Beyoncé wrote. “I’m happy for you to share some of the stories that shaped you into who you are. To know you is to love you.”
She added, “But please don’t spill too much Mama Tea.”
