He’s the second richest person in the world, so perhaps it should be no surprise that billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is throwing himself and bride-to-be Lauren Sánchez whatâs touted as the âwedding of the century.â
The planned nuptials are set for June in Venice, Italy. Sources tell “Page Six” Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez will tie the knot aboard Bezos’ $500-million dollar yacht, Koru. The yacht will be docked in Venice’s lagoon.
Bezos popped the question aboard Koru in May 2023, after the pair had been dating for five years. And he did it with a 20-carat diamond ring estimated to be worth $2.5 million. They celebrated their engagement with a bevy of famous friends aboard that same yacht in Positano, Italy, in August 2023.
At 415-feet long, the Koru is billed as the largest masted yacht ever built. But it’s nine cabins will only sleep 18-people. Meaning the rest of Bezos’ A-list guests will have to sleep somewhere else.
Bezos has that covered, booking hotel rooms that cost as much as $32-thousand a night according to “Page Six.”
Billionaire Bezos Has a Star-Studded Guest List
Bloomberg currently lists the 61-year-old billionaire as having a net worth of $222 billion. And he seems happy to dip into that so that he and his bride-to-be can pull out all the stops for their wedding weekend.
And their guest list is nothing short of A-list.
According to TMZ and the Daily Mail, media mogul Oprah Winfrey got a coveted invite, as did her best friend Gayle King. Leonardo DiCaprio and Eva Longoria made the cut, as did Orlando Bloom and his fiancée, pop star Katy Perry.
Movie producer Brian Glazer, and singers Barbra Streisand and Jewel are also expected to be on hand.
Fellow tycoon Bill Gates, media mogul Barry Diller and his wife, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg are on the guest list, as is Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan received an invitation. As did President Donald Trump, daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, his brother Joshua and wife Karlie Kloss.
And reality stars Kim Kardashian and her momager, Kris Jenner got invites. It will not be Kim Kardashian’s first over-the-top wedding. Kim and sister Khloe Kardashian attended the $600 million dollar wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant last July in Mumbai, India. That’s despite admitting they had never met the couple.
Venice Braces for Arrival of VIPs
Meanwhile, Venice is bracing for an influx of celebrities during the already-busy summer tourist season.
“The Daily Mail” reports that two of the cityâs best hotels, the Gritti Palace and Aman Venice, are completely booked from June 26 to June 29.
Rooms at both hotels cost a minimum of $3,200 a night. And they go up to almost ten times that amount for certain suites during the busy summer tourist season.
According to the “Daily Mail,” a local Venetian news site reported, âIn preparation for the event, Venice is bracing for the arrival of VIPs. The cityâs top luxury hotels have already been booked, and reports say the entire fleet of water taxis will be made available to shuttle guests across the canals. The logistics point to a highly exclusive, tightly coordinated celebration. Choosing Venice is more than a romantic gesture â itâs a nod to the coupleâs shared history with the city, which theyâve frequently visited during their relationship. ⦠The wedding is poised to be a defining social event of 2025, not only for the couple but for Venice itself.”
Bride-to-Be Will Go to Space Before Heading Down the Aisle
Bride-to-be Lauren Sánchez has reportedly chosen an Oscar de la Renta wedding gown. She chose the dress with input from Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, according to “Page Six.”
But before she walks down the aisle, she is set to climb aboard one of Bezos’ Blue Origin rockets. Sánchez will head for space this May as part of an all-female crew. It includes “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King and singer Katy Perry.
Sánchez has said she intends to take Bezos’ name once they are married. She says, “I’m looking forward to being Mrs. Bezos.”
